Behaviour management will also be your priority, ensuring pupils are achieving to the best of their ability.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be a registered teacher with Hays Education, you must possess Qualified Teacher Status or be an NQT and ideally have experience of teaching Science at up to KS4.
You must give full commitment to the role that you accept, and show your work ethic and flexibility to adjust to your new environment.

The mathematics department at Boston Spa Academy has an excellent track record of academic success. In the past two academic years, Progress 8 measures for the subject at GCSE were +0.97 and +1.07, placing the department as one of the highest performing in the country. This is further supplemented by our thriving A Level provision, in which Mathematics and Further Mathematics have large numbers of students who achieve exceptionally well. The team consists of 12 teachers, with a Director of Maths, Deputy Director of Maths, and three Assistant Leaders of Maths. Working Hours: 30 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £30,411 FTE (Actual Salary £24,657.57)

Annual Leave: 234.5 hours per annum (including bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)

What You’ll Be Doing:

As our Functional Skills Tutor, you’ll work with apprentices across Functional Skills Maths and ICT** (and occasionally English) at Levels 1 and 2. You’ll not only deliver tailored learning experiences but also take on aspects of curriculum leadership to ensure the highest standards of education and training.

Key responsibilities include:


Delivering engaging and dynamic lessons that stretch and challenge learners of all abilities.
Planning, preparing, and updating teaching materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and online content using Canvas.
Providing one-on-one and group support to learners, adapting teaching methods to individual needs.
Designing interactive sessions that inspire and motivate learners to excel.
Embedding literacy and numeracy skills into wider curriculum areas.
Collaborating with curriculum leads to develop a high-quality Functional Skills program.
Supporting learners with additional needs, removing barriers to achievement in line with Education and Health Care Plans.
Organizing Functional Skills exams and assessments.
Monitoring and providing constructive feedback to learners, driving progress and achievement.
Contributing to curriculum design and quality assurance processes.
Keeping up-to-date with developments in your subject area through continuous professional development.


What We’re Looking For:

We’re searching for a dedicated professional who is passionate about teaching and can bring creativity and innovation to the classroom. To thrive in this role, you’ll need:


Level 3/4 subject-specific qualification (Maths or related field).
Level 3 Award in Education and Training or Cert Ed, or PGCE (or the willingness to achieve this within two years).
Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English.
Experience in academic settings and supporting learners to achieve their goals.
Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum.
