As a Biological Science Technician (Fisheries) within the Eastern Ecological Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

They will be expected to participate in the recruitment of patients into clinical research, including clinical trials of drugs and new interventions within set time limits. When working on clinical trials he/she will monitor the patients and observe for side effects reporting according to set protocols. An important aspect of the role is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. Therefore the post holder will require excellent documentation, organisational and time management skills.

The post holder will work in conjunction with other team members ensuring all research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the participants and is conducted within the research governance framework.

Whilst previous experience in clinical research would be an advantage, applications are welcomed from candidates with solid nursing experience and who can show evidence of continuing professional development and a willingness to learn.

The successful applicant will relentlessly pursue instilling an interest in their subject amongst all pupils, they will be innovative, with demonstrable resilience, vision and energy. The ability or desire to teach at A Level would also be encouraged but is not essential.

We offer an extensive programme of academy and Trust professional development to ensure all colleagues continue to develop as practitioners and have opportunities to work collaboratively across subjects and across academies within our Trust.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) will have an experienced subject mentor assigned from day one in post. Colleagues are supported through their early career years with regular check ins from line managers and opportunities to meet with other ECT’s across the Trust and colleagues from HR where any further support and guidance may be required. We are an inclusive academy and Trust and embrace opportunities to develop all colleagues on their journey to success.
