Your new role
Joining a high-achieving department, you will be responsible for teaching Science to KS4. The role is to commence as soon as possible and will operate, full time, ongoing on a temporary basis. As the role is long term, you will be required to plan and prepare all lessons whilst differentiating in pupil ability. You will also be required to mark and assess all work ensuring that pupils are progressing in line with their target grades.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in securing this position, it is essential that you hold a teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS or PGCE and have experience of teaching Science to KS4. You must be able to commence the role immediately and be able to commit to the full duration of the assignment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As our Functional Skills Tutor, you’ll work with apprentices across Functional Skills Maths and ICT** (and occasionally English) at Levels 1 and 2. You’ll not only deliver tailored learning experiences but also take on aspects of curriculum leadership to ensure the highest standards of education and training.

Key responsibilities include:


Delivering engaging and dynamic lessons that stretch and challenge learners of all abilities.
Planning, preparing, and updating teaching materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and online content using Canvas.
Providing one-on-one and group support to learners, adapting teaching methods to individual needs.
Designing interactive sessions that inspire and motivate learners to excel.
Embedding literacy and numeracy skills into wider curriculum areas.
Collaborating with curriculum leads to develop a high-quality Functional Skills program.
Supporting learners with additional needs, removing barriers to achievement in line with Education and Health Care Plans.
Organizing Functional Skills exams and assessments.
Monitoring and providing constructive feedback to learners, driving progress and achievement.
Contributing to curriculum design and quality assurance processes.
Keeping up-to-date with developments in your subject area through continuous professional development.

• Manage, maintain, and support applications and the corresponding operating environments, focusing on stability, quality, and functionality against service level expectation.
• Evaluate the current system state, identify aspects which could be improved and recommend changes to achieve the improvement.
• Coordinate production release preparation, provide on-call support and afterhours/weekend support as needed to cover change deployment.
• Highlight or escalate risk and issues to relevant parties in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

• Masters or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Manage Information Science, Banking and Finance or equivalent.
• Min. 2 years’ experience on MS SQL Server development (SSIS packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers).
• Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
• Possess problem-solving ability and work well in a challenging technical environment, with capability to multi-task whilst delivering high quality solutions.
• In-depth understanding of database management systems.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.

The Exciting Role
The College Group is looking for a Biology Science Technician to join our dedicated Science Team on a full-time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. Flexibility will be required in this role as the successful candidate will be based at two of the College’s campuses; Nelson and Colne College as well as Accrington and Rossendale College.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Be able to prepare and maintain resources for L2, L3, Access to HE Diploma, A-level Biological Science. This will include preparation of micro-biological media and cultures
• Research, design and trial practicals, as required
• Set-up and remove equipment in laboratories, as required
• Clean and maintain equipment and apparatus
• Care for plant and animal collections
  
  What We Are Looking For:
• Level 2 qualification in Science, Maths and English at Grade C or above
• A relevant Lab Technician qualification and/or science study at level 4 or above
• Keep up to date with current laboratory practise
• Experience of working as a science technician in a laboratory
• Display initiative, be positive and enthusiastic
• Excellent IT skills
• Possess excellent communication skills
