Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and is the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation headquartered in Japan. Bridgestone Americas and its subsidiaries develop, manufacture and market a wide range of Bridgestone, Firestone and associate brand products to address the needs of a broad range of customers and industries.  

• Provide technical process and equipment guidance to the pilot plant operations team
• Develop new products and processes
• Collaborate with lab personnel to conduct lab scale trials
• Conduct in-plant process/equipment trials and data analysis
• Design new or modify existing equipment
• Develop, program and implement process control logic changes
• Support capital projects – equipment specification, quotes, P&ID updates, control logic updates, hazard reviews, installation reviews, commissioning, etc…
• Lead, participate and document risk assessments and HazOps
• Lead root cause investigations and develop corrective actions
• Conduct equipment trials at vendor’s site
• Complete monthly air permit compliance reports, quarterly research reports, assigned monthly safety inspections/audits
• Summarize and present data to management
• Liaise with other departments and sites to provide professional support and advice
• Generate MOC’s as needed for process/equipment changes
• Generate solutions to PSM inspection and audit findings

Desirable skills

• Programming Rockwell Plant PAX (ladder logic and function block) and working with associated Factory Talk software (Historian, Alarm & event, ect…)
• Leading small capital projects (< $500,000)
• Leading HazOp reviews
• Software:  Aspen Plus, Autocad, JMP
• Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering along with 5 years of process engineering experience ina PSM Chemical plant.

To contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the University by conducting University TriDharma as appropriate under Head of Department supervision. To  participate in the University and wider Department activities. The main responsibility includes the following :

• To engage in undergraduate teaching. The range of duties may vary from time to time but faculty are engaged primarily in lecturing. Some class teaching may also be required. 
• To conduct research, which enhances the School’s high academic reputation. Publication of articles in refereed journals or proceedings, author of book, book editing, module/lesson plan, book translation, and seminar/conference presenter/speaker are some alternative outcomes. 
• To manage as appropriate any research grants secured, including the recruitment and management of any research assistants. To be responsible for the timely delivery of associated research reports. 
• To engage in examining duties, i.e. the production of exam questions/papers, exam marking and moderation. 
• To participate in various Community Development activity approved by the University. 
• To act as academic advisor to students and to refer students to sources of pastoral support. 
• To participate in various University events as committee. 
• To implement other duties and tasks required by Faculty and/or Rectorate.
