Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed Term: 17 months but appointment over pay band UE07/33 may result in shortening of contract.



We are looking for an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher to contribute to an exciting new collaborative project, funded by the Medical Research Council, that is focused on a promising G-protein coupled receptor target in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.



The Opportunity:

This exciting project, in collaboration with experts in Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Glasgow, aligns well with the PI’s broader programme of translational liver research, with a focus on the development of new therapies for MASLD and other chronic liver diseases (https://www.ed.ac.uk/inflammation-research/people/principal-investigators/prof-jonathan-fallowfield). The post-holder will support these research interests, being an outstanding team player, ready to work within a multidisciplinary research group driven by a collegiate, collaborative ethos.



Your skills and attributes for success:

A 1st class or 2:1 degree in a biological sciences subject.
A PhD in a biological sciences area, either completed or awaiting examination.
Expertise in in vivo animal (mouse) work – use of transgenic mice, metabolic cages, animal handling, schedule 1 procedures (appropriate Home Office licences in place).
Independently proficient in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., immuno-histochemistry, qPCR).
First author or co-author publication(s) in good scientific journal(s).

Clinical grade AMN2: £43,504 - £64,461 per annum, pro-rata if part-time

CMVM/Edinburgh Medical School/Institute of Regeneration and Repair/Centre for Reproductive Health

Full-time: 40 hours per week

Fixed-term: for 12 months





The Opportunity:

This Albert McKern fellowship is aimed at enabling outstanding predoctoral obstetrics and gynaecology specialty trainees to obtain an externally funded clinical training PhD fellowship in a subject area related to the to study pain and distress during pregnancy, encompassing but not limited to the impacts of adverse pregnancy on the mother, fetus and subsequent generations, and how pregnancy is impacted by adverse maternal health. This post is full-time (40 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. Start date flexible and the post will last 12 months from the start date.
