Role Purpose
This role is needed for:
A) Utilizing Business Intelligence tools to provide insights and enhance business value.
As a key member of the Business Intelligence team, this role involves close collaboration with Commercial, Trades, Networks, Operations, Customer Success, and Landside Logistics teams. The focus is on understanding business needs and creating Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards for improved insights and data-driven decision-making.
B) Leveraging market-related data sources to generate business value.
This entails streamlining the flow of market intelligence data to support the Business Intelligence Manager in delivering market insights efficiently and promptly.
C) Collaborating closely with the Digital team to bridge departmental gaps.
This role is pivotal in liaising with the Data & Analytics team, focusing on aligning their technical capabilities with the specific needs of various business units (including but not limited to Commercial). Central to this responsibility is the identification and specification of dataset requirements from the data lake, tailored to each department. This role will also be crucial in guiding the development of reports and insights, thus enhancing the application of business intelligence across different departments within the company.
Role Accountabilities
Create and maintain Commercial-specific Power BI Datasets / semantic models
· Craft and refine specialized datasets for the Commercial team by identifying essential data elements, ensuring accurate data representation, and aligning with commercial strategies for actionable BI reporting.
Create and maintain Power BI Reports
· Design, deploy, and refine Power BI reports, dashboards, and KPI trackers as needed.
· Maintain and update existing Power BI report suites to align with business changes.
· Liaison with key teams to identify BI report applications that enhance decision-making.
· Simplify the user experience by consolidating and optimizing report quantity and format.
· Implement best practice data modeling and DAX to enhance report performance.
· Manage automated report schedules ensuring relevance and high quality of content.
· Advance report capabilities to include predictive analysis and forecasting.
· Stay current with BI best practices to maximize benefits for the organization.
Data Validation
· Validate existing datasets, ensuring the accuracy of information being reported from the data lake and other data sources.
· Implement and manage a process that will identify errors within the datasets (user or system errors), and ensure these are reviewed periodically as required.
Management of Data and Revenue Information Registers
· Ensure all Power BI-related data mappings are kept up to date within ongoing changes.
· Assist with collecting and streamlining the flow of market intelligence data, in order to timely report on market share, competitor activity and other market related information.
User Access & Security
· Ensure security measures are in place to limit data visibility for users as appropriate, and that these restrictions are reviewed on an ongoing basis as is deemed necessary.
Project work and detailed analysis
· Work closely with Business Intelligence Manager on project work and in-depth analysis as required.
Process & Digital transformation
· Work closely with Business Intelligence Manager to assist with the process, digital tool and systems requirements of the Commercial & Market Departments.
Safety

Key Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a field related to Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar.
Technical Skills:
· Extensive experience (over 2 years) with BI tools, especially Power BI, including Power Query and DAX.
· Expertise in SQL and advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
· Demonstrated ability in data visualization and financial data analysis.
· Previous experience in the shipping industry would be advantageous.
Professional Skills:
· Demonstrated ownership for deliverables and accountability for results.
· Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various internal teams.
· Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
· Experience in managing cross-departmental projects.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
