This Registered Nurse (Infection Control) position is located in the Nursing Services at the Leeds, MA location. This position is full time at 40 hours per week.

The Infection Prevention and Control Registered Nurse is accountable to the Associate Director Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse.
- The Infection Prevention and Control Registered Nurse provides direct staff support to service line managers, service chiefs and others in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- The Infection Prevention and Control Registered Nurse:
- Coordinates activities throughout the hospital to prevent and control infections.
- Set standards for a safe environment.
- Demonstrates leadership, experience, and creativity in the management of complex client care.
The Infection Prevention and Control Registered Nurse, applies clinical expertise and knowledge of healthcare programs. In collaboration with other experts, the Infection Prevention and Control Registered Nurse:
- Implements and maintains elements of specific Infection Control and Prevention Programs to evaluate the quality of patient care and/or the appropriateness and timeliness of services provided.
- Works with the Director of Performance Management and others to promote quality in clinical practice by collaborating in the development of guidelines and criteria for measuring the quality and appropriateness of patient care delivered.
- Analyzes data and reports information to identify the need for change in subscribed areas that may include the need to minimize risk and ensure effectiveness of clinical quality improvement.
- Provides support to CQI as an approach to assess and improve the quality of patient care.
- Applies CQI tools in data collection and identifies barriers to the achievement of quality improvement in circumscribed facility wide programs or committees, or in individual services.
- Advises and assists the Director of Performance Management in policy review, formulation, communication, implementation and evaluation and in setting of institutional priorities related to committees, services and/or program elements.
- Identifies patterns and/or trends and ensures that the identification of issues to modify and improve the program to facilitate the accomplishment of Performance Management goals and objectives.
- Assist in medical center activities and preparations for Joint Commission and other external reviews.
- Monitors the follow-up to recommendations specific to the utilization of risk resulting from Joint Commission and other external review visits and formulates communication through the Director of Performance Management to the Joint Commission and other external agents regarding these reviews.
- Utilizes clinical research results as a basis for identifying clinical issues that are appropriate for study.
- Researches, interprets, identifies, develops, and presents elements of educational programs for healthcare professionals and supports services regarding areas supported.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge relevant to the principles, practices, and techniques associated with nursing, Infection Control and Prevention and other clinical professions through literature and periodical review, workshop attendance, and/or the use of sound benchmarking practices.
- Serves as consultant on clinical issues and/or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serves as coordinator of activities for the organization's Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus (MRSA), Multiple Drug Resistant Organism (MDRO) program.
