The Associate Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Quality and Patient Safety (Associate DUSH for QPS) is a direct report to the Deputy Under Secretary for Health (DUSH) and supports the overall work of the Office of the Under Secretary for Health (USH). The Associate DUSH for QPS provides national leadership in the formulation and establishment of effective health care policies, programs, and initiatives that fulfill the VHA's mission to provide personalized, pro-active, high quality, safe, reliable care for Veterans. The Associate DUSH for QPS is responsible for leading VHA on its journey toward becoming a high reliability organization and has oversight of VHA's performance measurement, quality and process improvement, safety, clinical risk management, systems redesign, accreditation, and data analytics and reporting programs. The office manages approximately 400 clinical and administrative professionals in the day-to-day operations of these key programmatic elements. The Associate DUSH for QPS serves in a direct consultative capacity to the Under Secretary for Health, serving as a national subject matter expert in the quality improvement and patient safety QPS directorate. The Associate DUSH for QPS works collaboratively with other Assistant Under Secretaries leading the strategic direction of the Veterans Health Administration.

As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification & Recruitment), you will:

• Serve as a technical expert providing the full range of support to managers and supervisors in the following: Classification and position management-related duties to include resolving difficult and complex position management and position classification issues involving a variety of professional, administrative, technical, law enforcement, and clerical positions.
• Serve as a technical expert on classification matters. Under direction of management develops schedule to ensure the Quality Assurance Evaluation Program is conducted in accordance with Air Force (AF) Standards. Inspects lodging rooms, buildings, grounds, parking lots and other areas such as offices, day rooms, hallways and storage areas for quality and quantity of work performed by all employees. Evaluates and updates all general room instructions to include: guest directories, fire evacuation procedures, equipment instructions, sundry price listings, and informational signage. Corrects publications as required. Reviews guest feedback, analyzes data, and informs Lodging Manager of issues or areas requiring correction. Tracks trends in performance and conducts hospitality specific training to improve overall guest service and compliance with established standards. Tracks courses required to maintain or earn hospitality certifications. Oversees and manages the in-house training program. Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Provides expert advice and assistance to the Scientific Analysis (SA) Director, Laboratory Director and Deputy Laboratory Directors in Hawaii and Nebraska.

As a Theater Aerospace Operations Command and Control Specialist, GS-2101-11, you will administer refresher and advance training to ANG military AOC weapons systems positional specialists. Instruct and evaluate AOC assigned technician personnel in advanced aerospace operations applications using current AOC weapons systems of record. Instruct and evaluate enlisted AOC specialties to become instructors. Instruct same to function within established joint doctrinal principles to support the planning and prosecution of theater level joint operations. Monitor progress during training and advise when AOC personnel are ready for positional certification. Interview assigned enlisted AOC personnel to determine operational background in their respective weapons systems/specialties. Prescribe type, sequence, and extent of required training. Perform as instructor and/or examiner, evaluating and examining AOC personnel to determine preparation for the application of aerospace force/operations, proficiency during actual operations, instructional ability, technical competence, and post operations critique.
