QUALITY INSPECTOR

Permanent role, 39 hour week, 8.45am - 5pm Monday to Thursday & 7.45am - 1pm on Friday., Wellingborough based company, £28,000 - £32,000 per annum + Benefits

Due to my clients expansion of their current business, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join their team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the role of the Quality Inspector will be to ensure that all products manufactured meet specifications required by their customers . You will also ensure that final inspection of the parts is completed prior to dispatch. You will be involved in dealing with any quality issues raised by customers ensuring they are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Overall responsibilities will be the following

• Carry out audit inspections and record findings as appropriate
• Conduct thorough manufacturing inspections of the parts during production and at the end of process.
• Working with the engineering, production and quality teams to recommend corrective actions
• Follow standard operating procedures and train others on how to inspect parts
• Be familiar with using implements such as verniers and gauges
• Ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures

To be considered for this role, candidates need to have previously worked in a Quality Inspecting role having experience of inspecting painted and powder coated parts. Other essential experience required is the following

• Proven experience as a quality inspector in the automotive/aerospace industry

• Proficiency in using measurement tools & test equipment such as verniers, mics and gauges
• Be able to interpret customer standards and specifications
• Familiarity with quality tools, standards, and customer expectations
• Analytical skills & attention to detail with the ability to identify potential quality issues

Responsibilities
* Ensure food safety and quality objectives are always met
* Responsible for covering all the areas (Low Risk/High Care) as per rota

* Responsible for maintaining WIP, raw material and finished product specifications
* Ensure that GMP standards are maintained within all areas of the company and that all current legislation, all systems, and procedures are adhered too.
* Auditing all production paperwork daily according to BRC/Customer requirements
* Verify all production paperwork on daily basis and conduct traceability as requested
* Implement operational changes with technical guidelines
* Take actions for non-conformances which are rectified in relations to laid down systems and procedures.
* Provide training to operational staff as and when required
* Assist with new product development, sample preparation, production trials, DAF plant monitoring and taste panel as required
* Any other reasonable work that is requested by the Head of Technical to ensure the smooth running of the department and the Company

This role involves maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), planning and leading internal audits, writing work instructions, policies, and procedures, and raising and following up on corrective actions.

Your new role
For this role we're looking for candidates that have experience in QMS management and have done audits in a previous role.
International Standards familiarity, specifically ISO9001, is required. ISO451001 familiarity could serve as a back-up in case of no ISO9001.
A background in operations, manufacturing or logistics (manufacturing preferably due to ISO 9001) is preferable.

Key Responsibilities:

• QMS Maintenance: Assist in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System, ensuring all processes align with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
• Internal Auditing: Plan, schedule, and lead comprehensive internal audits, including QMS, manufacturing process audits, and product audits. Utilise a process-based and risk-based approach during audits to ensure compliance.
• Documentation and Reporting: Write, revise, and maintain work instructions, policies, and procedures. Generate detailed reports, track corrective actions, and closely collaborate with internal stakeholders for follow-up on audit findings.
• Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for employees on quality systems and processes. Facilitate root cause analysis and develop action plans to resolve non-conformances, employing techniques like the 3P-5Whys method.
• Support Quality Councils: Contribute to Product Quality Council (PQC) meetings and help compile presentations for management reviews as needed. This includes maintaining the Cummins Connect page and recording meeting minutes.
• Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify gaps within the QMS and participate in projects aimed at closing those gaps. Support the implementation of customer-specific requirements (CSRs) and assist in various Quality Management System activities.
• Education and Training Management: Provide specific quality systems-related education, including CQMS user training. Assist with CQMS administrative tasks, including user access assignments and generating MNCs/PNCs.

What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications and Competencies:

• Experience in QMS management and conducting audits
• Familiarity with International Standards, specifically ISO 9001 (ISO 451001 as a backup)
• Background in operations, manufacturing, or logistics (preferably manufacturing)
• Competencies in building effective teams, collaboration, effective communication, customer focus, driving engagement, ensuring accountability, and quality leadership
• Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) and able to learn our internal systems
• Ability to perform process-based and risk-based audits
• Experience with AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA)
• Six Sigma Green Belt trained and willing to work towards certification

Education & Certifications:
