Senior Building Control Officer based in Bury, £21.98ph PAYE - Reference: 0009 7CAE / 1

To ensure that all building works are carried out in accordance with Building Regulations, Public Health and Local Acts and that public and private buildings are in the condition required by legislation to protect the health and safety of the public (within the limits of the experience of the postholder).

1. Ensure all new building works comply with Building Regulations and current legislation within the context of the Client's constraints through the provision of advice to developers and contractors.

2. Liaise with relevant organisations and bodies relating to submissions received, carry out on-site meetings and inspections, make necessary recommendations and issue completion statements as appropriate.

3. Maintain and update computerised records in respect of all inspections carried out relating to building regulations.

4. Investigate complaints from members of the public, elected members and other members of staff relating to building works and provide advice on building issues which fall outside the scope of building regulations. 5. Respond to emergency situations relating to dangerous structures, make safe through the removal of dangerous conditions, obtain tenders for and supervise works of a remedial nature, serve relevant legal notices and represent the Authority at the Magistrates Court as appropriate. 6. Respond to other Departments and give appropriate advice to ensure compliance with registration and licensing conditions in respect of the uses to which land and buildings are put, including structures of a temporary nature and ensure safety standards are adhered to.

7. Check the siting of buildings as requested by the Development Control Section and supervise duties in relation to land charge searches and the naming and numbering of streets within new residential developments.

9. Prepare reports as required by the Chief Planning Officer or Building Control Section and make recommendations in line with Delegated Powers for action at the relevant Committee meeting.

It is a full-time role, working 39 hours per week from 8:00 – 16:30 Mon to Thurs, and 8:00 – 15:30 on Fridays with overtime available during the week. Produce reports on Quality Standards throughout the business and set standards for both companies personnel and work that is sub contracted.

Work with team members to maximise productivity and efficiency.

Work closely with the Procurement Manager to highlight and resolve issues quickly

About the role

An opportunity has arisen within the Document Management team at Heysham 1 Power Station for a Document Control Team Member.

This position would be ideally suited to someone who has previous experience working in a regulated environment with strong attention to detail.

Role Responsibilities

• Carry out activities in compliance with Documented Information procedures to ensure that documented information is managed to satisfy site licence requirements, company security of information obligations, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures and Safety Rules and to ensure customer focus.
• Develop, load and maintain documented information on the Asset Management Suite (AMS)/Controlled Document Management System (CDMS) to ensure that approved documents are readily available.
• Maintain a record schedule and record index on the Asset Management Suite (AMS)/Record Management Track and store records to ensure that they are easily retrievable.
• Protect hard copy documents and records to ensure they are safely secured and easily retrievable in accordance with Company requirements.
• Maintain specified site technical documents to ensure they are accessible.
• Make registered copy holders aware of new document issues.
• Respond to requests from internal and external organisations concerning documents and provide documents in accordance with copyright and security classification.

Skills and experience

Formal Qualifications

• GCSE/National Qualification standards (or equivalent) which should include English and Mathematics - Essential

Specific Skills

• Proficient in Asset Management Suite (AMS) - Document Management, Action Tracking, Records
• Track, CAP - Essential.
• Proficient in CDMS - Essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint - Essential.
• Proficient in document reporting tools - Business Objects (there should be sufficient team members to meet the business need) - Desirable

Knowledge and Experience

• Has a working knowledge of documented information management systems - Essential.
