What will you be doing?
Did you know the chemical industry is based on feedstocks derived from crude oil, natural gas, fats, and more? Argus covers a broad portfolio of feedstock markets, including aromatics, methanol, olefins, polymers, and oleochemicals.
We are looking for a driven, passionate, and resourceful market analyst/reporter to join our editorial team and cover the chemicals markets. The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio.
You will write engaging market intelligence and analyse timely, accurate, objective, and meaningful prices for our clients. This includes maintaining a strong network of contacts within the industries to source original, relevant and exclusive content. You will be personable and be able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within the designated product portfolio. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from various backgrounds, many of whom are located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. In addition, there are opportunities to travel, attend industry events, present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.
This is an excellent opportunity for market analysts, consultants, or brokers to transfer their skills and knowledge to advance their careers by joining a growing, global, independently owned organisation.
You will work in tandem with other reporters and editors, who will provide training and support to help you develop in-depth knowledge of the markets.
· Monitor and assess fast-moving markets to produce price assessments, intelligence, market commentaries, news, analysis, and reports.
· Proactively generate news leads and pitch stories, contribute copy to the relevant publication and the online news service, and contribute to unique content (blog posts, white papers, webinars, podcasts, etc.).
· Engage with the industry to understand market developments closely, ensuring that the methodology and the report remain relevant.
· Collaborate with colleagues on the desk and other teams to enhance and drive coverage.
· Attend meetings, conferences, and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus in the industry.

What we’re looking for in you
· An articulate graduate with a strong degree.
· The ability to develop, verify and write industry-relevant news/content to deadline is preferred.
· Prior experience working in financial or commodities journalism is beneficial but optional.
· Interest in and enthusiasm for commodities, energy markets, global business, politics, and economics.
· Experience delivering breaking news, insightful market reports, and in-depth analytical articles is a bonus.
· Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
· Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.
