Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions. Serco have an exciting new role as a Post Room Messenger. You will sort, deliver and collect all items of mail in the Post Room.
Main Accountabilities:
- As directed by the Post Room Team Leader(s) take responsibility for the internal and external secure distribution and collection of Protectively Marked mail and Defence Courier mail.
- Be responsible for the sorting of incoming mail, both from internal and external sources, and the distribution of mail into the appropriate pigeon holes.
- Proficient in the use of all Post Room Equipment.
- Exercise care and security of equipment issued to the Post Room.
- Assist with the franking process of outgoing mail, if required.
- Delivery and collection of internal mailbags on foot or by vehicle depending on the particular round.
- Delivery and collection of parcels and larger items between rounds as required.
- Delivery of priority items and obtaining signatures for same.
- Delivery of security pouches containing protectively marked documents and obtaining signatures for same.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Good level of general education, with GCSE’s (A-C) or equivalent in English.
- Full clean Driving License
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in a Customer Service facing role.
- Previous Administration and or Post Room Experience.
- Knowledge / understanding of general office practices.
- PC literate, with experience in MS Outlook.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to proactively manage own workload
