The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward teams. He/she will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in the ward areas and ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

Specific Duties

Cleaning
To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward.
To carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
To ensure general and specialist equipment, e.g. drip stands, incubators and commodes are cleaned on a regular basis as per cleaning policy.
To ensure the ward is safe and tidy at all times, e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, signage, etc.
To maintain upkeep of patients’ bed areas.
To identify any problems with cleanliness and report to the ward sister.
To ensure specialist cleaning of surfaces and furnishings.
To ensure isolation nursing areas are cleaned appropriately.

Catering
To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks (e.g. toast) as requested – offering a 24-hour snack service.
To serve meals in conjunction with the nursing team, ensuring patients intake is known and that their dietary needs are met.
To provide eating assistance, e.g. cutting up food, placing food within reach, encouraging patients to eat.
To prepare hot/cold beverages including appropriate trolley/equipment.
To ensure all food and beverages are served at the correct temperature according to food hygiene regulations.
To prepare areas where food and beverages are served/consumed to ensure a pleasant environment for patients.
To wash all equipment/utensils used in preparation, regenerating, serving and consuming food and beverages.
To take responsibility for the ward kitchen, ensuring it is clean at all times, e.g. discarding out-of-date food, stock rotation.
To ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per policy.
To ensure that discharged and newly-admitted patients’ meal requirements are actioned in conjunction with the ward nurse.
To co-ordinate extra meal requirements that may arise.
To ensure patients whose fluid intake is not medically restricted have access to fresh water (e.g. jugs and glasses).

Maintaining theenvironment

Opened in 1995, this hospital amalgamated the obstetric, gynaecological and neonatal services provided for the women and babies of Liverpool. This 250 bed hospital delivers approximately 8400 babies annually and provides a range of subspecialty services and training programmes in each of the four subspecialty areas. The Liverpool Womens Hospital Crown Street is a stand-alone unit, situated three quarters of a mile from the adult acute trust (LUFT) Royal site and Liverpool University. It has its own on-site gynaecological emergency room, dealing with approximately 350 attendances and 50 admissions weekly. The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Regional Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Departments are located on the same site. Comprehensive outpatient obstetric and gynaecology services are also provided from a recently renovated building on the LUFT Aintree site, serving the north of the city and outlying areas. The Trust has strong links with the University of Liverpool. The University Department of Womens and Childrens Health is part of the Centre for Womens Health Research based at Liverpool Womens Hospital site. The successful candidate will become part of the team responsible for suspected gynaecological cancer diagnosis and oncology care in Liverpool. This will include the diagnosis and management of patients through triage, Rapid Access Clinics, diagnostics and could also include the surgical, in patient and out patient management of patients with gynaecological cancer in Liverpool Womens Hospital and other collaborating hospitals depending on the applicants skill mix. They would be expected to participate in the development of the service and join the team on its transformation journey. Consultants and academic staff providing gynaecology, obstetric, fetal and maternal medicine services within the Trust have an active research profile, with particular expertise in randomised trials and systematic reviews. This post is designed to strengthen the existing team of Consultants who provide Gynaecological Cancer care to the women of Liverpool and the surrounding areas of Merseyside, Cheshire and North-Wales.



The Gynae Oncology department supports a population base of 2.4 million covering Merseyside and Cheshire. With over 500 cancer referrals each year, the Liverpool Women’s Hospital is one of the five busiest Gynae Oncology centres in England.

The successful applicant will work alongside our team of consultant nurses and general gynaecologists who run the rapid access clinics to facilitate prompt diagnosis in addition to providing a link between this service and the oncology team. It is anticipated that they will also support with telephone triage of the endometrial cancer pathway. They will undertake the management of patients usually dealt with at secondary care level within oncology, such as early stage low grade endometrial cancer and ovarian masses with a low risk of malignancy. The will also support with the running of the weekly Unit MDT.



In addition this post is can assist with the provision of general gynaecology in relation to the cancer services. This could include out-patient gynaecological clinics and elective gynaecological surgery. It may also include (depending on the interests of the applicant): vulval medicine, colposcopy ambulatory surgery or hysteroscopy.



The post holder would be expected to develop the oncology service, and development of areas such as tumour specific pathway improvement for endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal cancers.

The job plan will be individualised to suit the skill set of the successful applicant.

Opened in 1995, this hospital amalgamated the obstetric, gynaecological and neonatal services provided for the women and babies of Liverpool. This 250 bed hospital delivers approximately 8400 babies annually and provides a range of subspecialty services and training programmes in each of the four subspecialty areas.

The Liverpool Women’s Hospital Crown Street is a stand-alone unit, situated three quarters of a mile from the adult acute trust (LUFT) Royal site and Liverpool University. It has its own on-site gynaecological emergency room, dealing with approximately 350 attendances and 50 admissions weekly. The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Regional Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Departments are located on the same site.

Comprehensive outpatient obstetric and gynaecology services are also provided from a recently renovated building on the LUFT Aintree site, serving the north of the city and outlying areas.

The Trust has strong links with the University of Liverpool. The University Department of Women’s and Children’s Health is part of the Centre for Women’s Health Research based at Liverpool Women’s Hospital site.

The successful candidate will become part of the team responsible for suspected gynaecological cancer diagnosis and oncology care in Liverpool. This will include the diagnosis and management of patients through triage, Rapid Access Clinics, diagnostics and could also include the surgical, in patient and out patient management of patients with gynaecological cancer in Liverpool Women’s Hospital and other collaborating hospitals depending on the applicants skill mix. They would be expected to participate in the development of the service and join the team on its transformation journey.

Consultants and academic staff providing gynaecology, obstetric, fetal and maternal medicine services within the Trust have an active research profile, with particular expertise in randomised trials and systematic reviews. Laboratory facilities are available within the University Department, and there are close collaborative links with the Department of Physiology. The Trust recruits to many NIHR studies, therefore GCP training would be desirable but not mandatory. One or more research PAs may be available to interested appointees, particularly those with a proven track record in research or innovation.

Participation in a continuous training and education programme for all clinical staff is a requirement of this post. Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training would also be expected. The post holder will be expected to have the minimum requirements for level 1 educational supervision.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the ward teams. He/she will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in the ward areas and ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering, and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse.

Specific Duties

Cleaning

Catering
To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks (e.g. toast) as requested – offering a 24-hour snack service.
To serve meals in conjunction with the nursing team, ensuring patients intake is known and that their dietary needs are met.
To provide eating assistance, e.g. cutting up food, placing food within reach, encouraging patients to eat.
To prepare hot/cold beverages including appropriate trolley/equipment.
To ensure all food and beverages are served at the correct temperature according to food hygiene regulations.
To prepare areas where food and beverages are served/consumed to ensure a pleasant environment for patients.
To wash all equipment/utensils used in preparation, regenerating, serving and consuming food and beverages.
To take responsibility for the ward kitchen, ensuring it is clean at all times, e.g. discarding out-of-date food, stock rotation.
To ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per policy.
To ensure that discharged and newly-admitted patients’ meal requirements are actioned in conjunction with the ward nurse.
To co-ordinate extra meal requirements that may arise.

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. job purpose/about the role

The purpose of the role is to work in conjunction with internal colleagues in Operations and Housing to provide a clearing and cleaning service to help turnaround Void properties and maintain Council properties. We are a response service for customers allowing buildings and sites to maintain health, safety and fire standards by removal of fly tipped items and blood and other bodily fluids. A certain level of fitness is required to undertake this manual role.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

An appropriate level of health and fitness to carry out manual frontline service delivery
tasks

Full current UK driving license and the willingness to undertake driving vehicles supplied to transport yourself and co-workers to sites across the City.

Full PVG certificate

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• Cleaning processes and the use of cleaning equipment and materials
• Manual handling processes
• Working both as part of a Team and having the ability to use one’s own initiative
