The Local Recovery Coordinator (LRC) functions as a champion and advocate for the recovery model. LRC also serves as a recovery ombudsman to the Associate Chief of Staff of Mental Health (ACOS-MH), program managers, and staff on recovery and implementation of recovery-oriented services. In conjunction with the ACOS-MH, the LRC develops a 3-5 year plan for the facility that identifies staged implementation of recovery-oriented services (e.g., use of recovery plans). LRC is responsible for coordinating the evaluation of recovery implementation at the facility and reporting results to the National Recovery Coordinator (NRC). With guidance from the NRC, the LRC will implement measures to assess recovery policy and procedure adherence, as well as assess the extent that the recovery model is embodied in the Mental Health programs. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to;

• Develops a facility recovery education plan for providers and Veterans and their families.
• Develops an ongoing education plan for providers, Veterans, and families that includes recurrent didactic presentations about elements of recovery (e.g., recovery plans) and recovery implementation by experts.
• Serves as consultant to Mental Health programs and recovering Veterans in development of peer support groups, consumer counseling, and consumer operated services, as per local needs and resources.
• Advises the Mental Health Program Managers on filling peer specialist positions and serves as a consultant to peers specialists.
• Assists with VA regional or local recovery-oriented trainings, meetings, or conferences as needed.
• Serves as a Mental Health Liaison to the facility Consumer Council.

The Deputy Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor Deputy Program Coordinator works closely with the local BHIP Program Manager/Coordinator, and has direct line authority and is accountable for all aspects of the clinical care and support services provided to Veteran in the BHIP program at a specific location. In addition to providing direct patient care, this psychologist has substantial administrative/managerial, supervisory and training responsibilities. The Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) is under the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service and works with and clinically supports Acute Care Mental Health, which includes an inpatient psychiatric unit, inpatient medicine, and the emergency department. In addition to providing direct patient care, the Senior LPMHC functions as the facility Baker Act Coordinator and has supportive administrative duties.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing a full range of mental health services to patients with complex mental, medical, and psychosocial problems in Acute Care Mental Health.
• Completing Suicide Risk Identification to include CSREs, Safety Plans, and consultation with the Suicide Prevention Team as needed.

James A Haley TAMPA VAMC is looking to fill multiple LPMHC Program Coordinator positions at two of their facilities: Temple Terrace outpatient clinic and Tampa Main Campus hospital.

LPMHC Program Coordinators are administratively responsible for a clinical program and provide treatment to patients in a major specialty. They manage the daily operations of the program, develop policies and procedures, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They will clinically supervise unlicensed graduate interns/LPMHCs and may administratively manage any employees assigned to their program.

Incumbent is expected to perform full range of assessment/treatment services to assigned patients that would include comprehensive review of current mental illness symptoms, advanced psychosocial case and care management, discharge planning, health care coordination advocacy and referral, community referrals, and the rendering of a decision regarding the presenting diagnosis with coordination of the treatment plan including recommendations for continued treatment or therapy for a variety of different mental disorders that could include particularly complex or unusually difficult patients.
