The Junior Captain / Captain is an essential member of the Food & Beverage team dedicated to providing exceptional and memorable dining experiences to our guests.

The Junior Captain / Captain provides an enjoyable, expertly served beverage or dining experience conforming to Four Seasons standards of excellence for quality, professionalism and friendliness. · Minimum of 1 year of service experience in a luxury hotel or Michelin restaurant.

The Role and Department

As General Services Assistant, you will deliver a range of services across University premises, ensuring the University is well maintained, welcoming and a pleasant environment for students, University employees and commercial customers. Your role will encompass three key areas of responsibility: basic maintenance/minor DIY tasks; a range of portering duties; and ad-hoc security.

The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides a number of essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.

Job Description

• Coordinate the maintenance of rooms, public areas and housekeeping equipment
• Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness level conforms to hotel standards
• Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies and equipment
• Monitor turnover of rooms to ensure housekeeping efficiency
• Organize work activities for shift commencement and completion
• Plan resources and allocate work assignments to team members
• Supervise work performance to ensure cleaning and maintenance are carried out in accordance with SOPs.
• Execute response and recovery actions during emergency situations
• Resolve guests’ concerns and feedback
• Conducts training and coaching to team members

Requirements

The Role and Department

General Assistants are responsible for supporting a professional, responsive, and efficient catering service for students, staff, and visitors. They ensure that food production is presented, served, and replenished to an exceptional standard and in line with standard operating procedures. The post holder will also assist with day-to-day cleaning of kitchen and catering equipment, receipt and storage of goods, and checking and signing for deliveries.

Catering team members will be expected to adopt and promote a flexible working approach and undertake any or all the tasks outlined below regardless of their designated shift.
