Medway Imaging Department is well equipped with 2 x CT Toshiba machines (1 x 64 slice & 1 x 126 slice), 2 MRI machines (1xGE 3T HDXT & 1x1.5 T Siemens Magnetom Aera), An Ultrasound Suite consisting of 5 Toshiba Ultrasound systems, 3 Fluoroscopy Suites and 2 Interventional Suites. The successful candidate would join a progressive department led by young and dynamic Consultant colleagues. Applicants must hold a Radiology degree (ideally FRCR or equivalent) with broad training in Radiology. The services within directorate portfolios are delivered predominantly at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital, with a smaller proportion delivered at Christchurch Hospital and in other community/hospital sites across Dorset via Service Level Agreements.

To deliver and collect clinical & non clinical items, including post, beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, medical gases, pathology specimens, laundry, waste, furniture; responding to any ad-hoc requests and ensuring procedures are followed. To convey deceased patients to the mortuary and to do so in a dignified manner, using the appropriate equipment, also on request to place deceased patients within the viewing room (this will include viewings for babies, and young children) in accordance with procedures, and return to storage area on request. They are the first point of contact for the undertakers out of hours. To work to the roster prepared by the Portering Manager covering 24 hours a day, 7 days per week including bank holidays. To undertake job tasks via the handheld Trust system in a timely and efficient manner.

To accept patients delegated by a therapist or identified under a protocol, and carry as own patient caseload. Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, making alterations to patient treatment programmes as required. Work unsupervised reporting back patient progress and informing therapist of any problems. This post holder will be expected to participate in six or seven day working patterns Assist the therapist in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of physical therapy techniques

Vacancy Available: 9am-11am (Monday-Friday) - Stirling Park, Rochester (Please note this role is working for Medway Maritime hospital - but role will be carried out our records department in Stirling Park - Rochester) Responsible for ensuring the safe disposal/packaging of waste as per NHSS policy for example Clinical Waste, Household Waste. Clean and prepare ward food trolleys for meal service. Deliver food service trolley to wards. Assisting nursing staff during managed meal times with portioning and plating food from food trolley at ward level. Prepare and deliver ward stores and supplies to wards and departments. Reporting details of faults and failures of electrical equipment /fabric of the building to Team Leader or Ward Manager. Responsible for the completion of records/log sheets and personal signing in/out sheets. Complete all working schedules and any other relevant paperwork accurately within given timelines where applicable. Responsible for safe/secure/hygienic storage of various stocks at ward / department level e.g. cleaning chemicals, consumables, dry /refrigerated food stuffs and equipment. The post holder will follow all guidance and procedures relating to Healthcare Associated Infection to ensure their safety and that of others, to prevent the spread of infection.

The duties will consist of the inpatient care (Medway Maritime Hospital) and outpatient care of patients and other surgical Consultants' patients when they are on shift. The Speciality Registrar will admit and clerk patients to the Medway Maritime. Admissions at weekends and out of normal working hours will be clerked by the duty House Surgeon or Senior House Officer. The Speciality Registrar will check the admissions and treatments giving advice and arranging treatment or operation after consulting the Registrar or Consultant concerned. The Speciality Registrar will normally seek advice from his/her Consultant before referring patients to other specialties. The Speciality Registrar is responsible for all the patients under the care of the Consultant Surgeon(s) to whose firm they are attached at the time and for the patients of all the Consultant Surgeons when 'on-call' and when covering for their colleagues. The Speciality Registrar will refer to their Consultant when problems exceed their authority and experience and they will support andadvise the House Surgeon who will refer to them. The Speciality Registrar must maintain liaison between other SPRs who are on duty before and after him/her to maintain adequate continuity and communication of patient care.

General Practice Assistant (GPA) Job Title: General Practice Assistant (GPA) Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Contract: Permanent (subject to satisfactory probation) Pay scale: Band 3 4 dependent on experience Line Manager: Digital & Transformation Lead Job Summary A GPA will support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient. Duties Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc. Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes. Must have working knowledge of Docman and Ardens. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients. Must have working knowledge of EMIS. Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment. Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy. Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc. Explaining treatment procedures to patients. Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s). The General Managerwill be responsible for devising robust plans which look to sustain achievement of the constitutional (operational) and financial standards, as well as regularly reviewing these to ensure that plans are effective. The role will also support aspects of clinical governance compliance and assurance related to the care group, ensuring safe and effective use of all resources. Support the Divisional Director of Operations to deliver the annual capacity and business planning process for the care group; this may include delegated responsibility for business cases which have been identified as required to strengthen or develop the service areas you are responsible for. Manage and coordinate the day to day operational flow of wards in conjunction with senior nurses and support services with the aim of ensuring every patient has a green day as part of the SAFER patient flow bundle. Ensure strong financial service performance against plans through identification of problems at an early stage and the initiation of corrective action.

The department treats annually more than 450 newly diagnosed breast cancers.The breast unit is supported by 4 specialist nurses. The unit is supported by 2 consultant clinical oncologists. There is a weekly MDT meeting which is attended by all members of the breast team. There is also a weekly educational meeting and a breast planning meeting which discusses the allocation of outpatients and theatre sessions one and six weeks in advance. The breast surgery unit has a strong team spirit and is working towards a joint waiting list for outpatient referrals and operating list. The breast unit sees more than 6000 new referrals per year. There are 9 one-stop clinics with full radiology cover per week. The Breast unit is actively involved in research and national trials. Medway Maritime Hospital hosts Medway Breast Screening Unit with screening population of 110000 women. 150 screen detected cancers are treated per year. The unit provides comprehensive Breast services treating benign and malignant conditions (screen-detected and symptomatic).The unit provides full range of oncoplastic procedures and breast reconstruction using implant-based or lattismus dorsi flaps on site. Breast reconstruction using microsurgery techniques are carried out by plastic surgeons at Queen Victoria hospital, East Grinstead. The unit works closely with the plastic surgeons at Queen Victoria Hospital. There is a plastic surgeon attended clinic on site once a week. There is a full session for the morbidity and mortality audit meeting held monthly. A department educational meeting is held on Tuesday morning every week.

For the successful applicants there is an opportunity to gain and be signed off for Foundation year two competencies needed for Core Surgical training application. The post holder will be expected to maintain good logbooks / portfolios of evidence documenting their experience and competencies and will have to attend and meet F2 teaching requirements. He/she will normally seek advice from his/her Registrar or Consultant before referring patients to other specialties. This is a 1 in 12 Full Shift rota. The post holder must be resident at Medway Maritime Hospital when on nights. After 2100 hours during the week and at weekends the Surgical Team on duty will cover for any Urological emergencies with a Urology Middle Grade providing non-resident on-call cover overnight.
