EXPERIENCE

• This position requires significant HVAC repair & mechanical troubleshooting skills

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment. Supports the organization commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI Activities, including those related to patient satisfaction and actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve the organization Quality Enhancement Goals (QEP).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Related

Education:

• Assist other health care members in providing patient specific detailed education regarding adequacy measures where appropriate - Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM), and regarding disease process/access.

Treatment:

• Welcome assigned patients and inquire as to their wellbeing since their last treatment.

• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and perform administration of heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law.

• Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight and perform vascular access evaluation pre- treatment

• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).         

• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.   

• Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy. 

• Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion; perform all relevant functions necessary for the discontinuation of treatment - document.       

• Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures and evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access - standing & sitting blood pressure

• Obtain Hemostasis and apply appropriate dressings.   

• Evaluate the patient prior to discharge.

• Perform and record Pre and Post dialysis evaluation, weight, and vital signs with initial identification        

• Responsible for calculating and entry of individual patients’ dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goal; treatment time; and UF modeling as prescribed.          

• Responsible for ensuring appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including Narrow Venous Limits, (NVL) 160.    

• Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters onto the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet with initial identification      

• Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment including completion of Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and, if applicable, progress notes.         

• Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to the registered nurse or supervisor.

• Observe patient and conduct machine safety checks according to facility policy. Report any change or unusual findings to the registered nurse or supervisor.

• Perform and document any intervention for unusual patient status and document patients' response to intervention.

• Evaluate patients’ vascular access during treatment including arterial and venous monitoring pressures, provide appropriate intervention as needed, document and report any unusual findings to the registered nurse or supervisor.

• Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.      

• Ensure that all blood spills are immediately cleaned with appropriate disinfectant according to facility policy.       

• Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.       

• Monitors patients performing self-care under the supervision of RN.

Staff Related

• Assists in training of applicable direct patient care staff on appropriate programs under the supervision of a nurse.

Education/Communication:

• Follows all organization business policies, procedures and systems incorporated into training, including compliance with ethical business practices

• Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics - ensure all areas are safe and clean.

• Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.

• Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment and document where appropriate and perform all required pretreatment dialysis machine alarm testing including Pressure Holding (PHT).

• Initiate Solution Delivery System (SDS) system.

RECORD KEEPING:

• Complete and document ongoing participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.  

• Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.           

• Review treatment sheets for completeness, ensure nursing signatures are documented, and ensure

omitted entries are completed or corrected by appropriate staff.

• Prepare initial patient chart for admission and compile paperwork for appropriate placement in chart.

• Prepare/print lab requisitions for prescribed or stat Lab specimens according to laboratory destination.      

• Collect, label, appropriately prepare and store lab samples according required laboratory specifications.     

• Ensure collection of lab specimens by appropriate lab courier.

INFECTION CONTROL:

• Assists in collecting  information for infection control audits.       

• Supports staff and patient Adherence to infection control practices.         

• Follows infection control Policies and Procedures          

• Participates in and reinforces infection control education of patients and families under the direction of the CM or designee as allowed by state law.

TRANSITIONAL CARE UNIT:

• Follows all newly admitted patients through their first 4 weeks of dialysis and coordinating their transitional dialysis care 

• Reinforces all education and care related matters as it relates to the new patient           as allowed by state law

• Liaisons with appropriate FKC staff members to provide the best patient experience including making sure all disciplines are scheduled to see patient according to plan.      

• Assists in assuring patient understanding or home dialysis products, benefits of home and how home dialysis can work for them.

• Sets and preforms a treatment on all machines used in the transitional care unit.

• Assist in assuring patient understanding of treatment options including demonstration of the peritoneal dialysis set-up.

• Assists with coordination of transition to patient’s modality choice.         

• Assists with supply ordering and inventory for TCU

• Must train and respond to plant emergency issues within the guidelines of the PEO (Plant Emergency Operations).

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician II, you will use your skills to support the Operations Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the building. The Mechatronics Junior Apprentice (MJA) will learn to perform the job of a Mechatronics Junior Technician to install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control systems and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center through the completion of a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job learning program. The apprentice will also train in and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.

Participants must be able to attend a 12-week training at one of five colleges: Vincennes University (Vincennes, IN), Lehigh Carbon Community College (Allentown, PA), Wake Technical College (Raleigh, NC), Ogeechee Technical College (Statesboro, GA), or Dallas College – Eastfield Campus (Dallas, TX). Travel-related expenses, including room and board, during the training will be provided.

Participants will receive a fixed hourly rate for training, after successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program the Apprentice will receive a promotion to a Mechatronics Junior Technician position at an increased fixed rate.

How You Will Achieve It

• Trainee must have relevant experience and strong mechanical aptitude (i.e. Journeyman Electrician).  Self-starter with ability to work independently and willingness to commit to completion of formal apprenticeship training program that includes both classroom work and documented 8000 hours of on-the-job training. Good verbal and written communication skills
• A Maintenance Mechanic working within the Operations and Utilities environment.  Performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, calibrates, and troubleshoots a multitude of measuring and control instruments which include: Analog, digital, electronic, pneumatic, and various other devices.  The Mechanic also provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner.

• A Maintenance Mechanic working within the Operations and Utilities environment.  Mechanic is required to read and understand drawings / blueprints, utilizing this knowledge for the installation / repair of new and existing equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and troubleshoots a multitude of equipment.  This job requires the use of precision measuring devices, the ability to repair glass lined and glass coated equipment, and properly install pumps, agitators, and mechanical seals. He/she is required to work with precision bearings, electric motor gearing, gearboxes, packaging machinery and related equipment.The Mechanic also provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician II, you will use your skills to support the Operations Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the building. You will have the opportunity to install, maintain and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment. Under the supervision of the Launch Program Manager, the Travel Technician will be instrumental in the initial startup, training, and operations of newly acquired sites and improvements to our sustainment sites within the Amazon account.  As a Travel Technician III, you will lead the training of service technicians in the installation and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will support Maintenance teams throughout the organization by designing solutions for difficult problems and managing projects. You will help train and mentor service technicians, contract technicians, influence safety culture and represent C&W Services with clients are senior leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
• Travel to all North American sites to support a variety of functions including holding training sessions, audit and evaluation completion, hands on support work, and sev event support.
• Subject matter expert in a minimum one of three focus areas Base Building, Amazon Robotics, Material Handling Equipment.
• Teach conveyor systems and troubleshooting for site specific material handling equipment with technicians for our new launch sites.
• Provide support and recommendations to field teams on standard work, complicated repairs, and effective communication with the operational staff.
• Provide support and guidance through troubleshooting during high impact sev events.
• Train and mentor new hires.
• Create and implement audits around preventative maintenance procedures for new sites.
• Teach installation and troubleshooting of relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.
• Create reports to communicate work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used.
• Lead and manage equipment inspections and escalate issues to client.
• Maintain a positive working relationship across all facilities within the account
• Develop training plans for service technicians
• Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience working with automated conveyors and controls
• 5+ years of experience with electrical and electronic principles, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industrial electronics
• 5+ years of experience conducting preventative maintenance
• 5 + years of experience reading blueprints and schematics
• 5 + years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
• 3+ years of work order management
• Ability to travel nationwide 90% 2-3 weeks at a time
• Subject Matter expert in either Material handling equipment, Amazon Robotics, base building maintenance.
• Excellent time management and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
• 4+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
