ST Consult, based in attractive rural offices at Hannington in Hampshire, is part of Southern Testing, an established company providing environmental and geotechnical consultancy and site investigation services to the private and public sectors. The company operates its own drilling rigs, including rotary, windowless sampling, CFA, etc. The company is management owned with a strong commitment to staff.

The role of Site Technician / Trainee site technician involves mostly outdoor work and the successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out basic geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental site investigations and site tests and provide general assistance as instructed by our engineers. A full clean driving licence including categories B and E, are essential. Previous experience is desirable but not essential. You should be physically fit, enjoy the outdoors, be willing to take on a variety of activities and have formal qualifications in maths and English to at least GCSE or equivalent level.

The position is full time, Monday to Friday, working a minimum of 7.5 hours a day but part time employment could be considered for the right candidate.

Role Summary

• Working alone safely and responsibly, responding to blockages and carrying out maintenance tasks with a high-pressure Van Pack vehicle.
• Customer and client liaison and able to build a good rapport.

• Incident reporting and escalation with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Look See Push rod CCTV surveys and reporting.
• Confined Space entry and safe working practices.
• Responsible for a proactive approach to SHEQ/H&S/POWRA Risk assessments and carrying out works in a safe and productive manner.

The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and support to lecturers and assist with instructing learners in their practical activities.
Essential requirements:
Minimum of level 2 relevant vocational qualification;
Experience of maintaining, setting up and using the machinery in the relevant vocational area;
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively to meet tight deadlines;
Ability to work in a team and with learners with a wide range of abilities and needs;
Liaise effectively with college staff, learners, external visitors and outside suppliers;
Ability to move, lift or carry equipment; ability to work at heights;
Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with good time-management skills;
Knowledge and experience in relation to stock control and inventory;
Practical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, safe working practice and risk assessment;
