As a Surface Maintenance Repairer, WG-5801-08, you will

Perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.

Perform limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges.

Perform routine repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems using standard parts.

Conduct limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.

Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc.

Perform minor body and fender, or other metal repairs, using peening hammers, dollies and limited welding.

• Supervises the daily operations of the SPS department, guiding technicians and ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Coordinates the workflow, ensure that instruments are processed and returned to clinical department promptly.
• Oversees adherence to infection control and sterilization standards to ensure patient safety. They monitor compliance with regulations, SOPs, IFUs, AAMI standards and procedures to maintain high standards.

• Troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems within healthcare facilities. Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the mechanical maintenance team.
• Ensure all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems, are maintained and repaired to comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to avoid system failures.

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field (HND/HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
• Experience in the healthcare sector is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices, particularly in healthcare environments.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software and MS Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements and safety standards related to scope of work

• Maintain tools, equipment, PPE in a good working condition.

What you bring:

• Industrial door experience including installations, service & repairs
• Experience in mechanical, commercial, and/or industrial maintenance roles
• A good knowledge of electrical & mechanical fault-finding.
• Must have excellent communication skills, with an ability to work efficiently within a team and individually
• A safe approach to using power tools and hand tools
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with automated door systems
• Technical training in electrical systems preferred
• A systematic approach to problem solving
• Familiar with the use of MS Office, with the ability to produce reports
