The post holder will be based at the Royal London Hospital, with responsibility for the Trust wide optimisation of clinical systems.

The postholder will assist the Lead Pharmacist, Informatics with the development and optimisation of electronic prescribing within the Trust, in conjunction with the Head of IT Projects and the EPR team. What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience working as a Technician dealing with Non Marine or Property risks emanating ideally from North America will contribute to your success in securing this role. Experience of Binding Authorities as well as DComm/Lineage would be advantageous. You will be technically astute and ideally, you will have an experience in MRC slip production and endorsements. You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbally. Cross training to NA Property and Transportation will be offered

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) undertakes world-class research across many specialities including early phase, cancer, haematology, and neurology. As a senior research pharmacy technician (or Science Manufacturing Technician) you will be part of the pharmacy clinical trials team facilitating this research. Your key role is to set up new studies, maintain current and historical studies, and oversee the storage and receipt of clinical trials medicines. You will also be an important part of the team providing a high-quality dispensary service to our patients.


The postholder will acquire a broad overview of injectable research medicines, research delivery, dispensary management, and research governance, therefore would suit anyone with an interest in these areas. Prior experience of clinical trials or hospital pharmacy is desirable but not required.

Ideally you will be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician with 1-2 years’ experience although all training and support will be provided by our supportive team including our education & training lead. Those wishing to enrol on formal training courses can do so via external (on application) and in-house learning & development programmes.

What you'll be doing;

• Conduct scheduled physical inspections by company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) procedures

Duties and Responsibilities Work as part of the Medicines Optimisationteam to implementSWL ICBs Medicines Optimisation priorities with a focus on supporting high quality and safe prescribing in primary care and care homes.Develop and maintain good working relations with all ICB and provider staff and attend meetings as required.Support the development, implementation and evaluation of medicines related safety and quality audits within general practice and care homes.Provide advice and support to PCNs and their practices to meet clinical governance, quality and safety targets relating to medicines optimisation.Support relevant committees e.g. Integrated Medicines Optimisation Committee (IMOC) and Medicines Optimisation Safety Improvement and Learning Network (MOSILN) by taking minutes, follow up on actions, sending out consultations, engaging with other committees (minutes / issues), maintaining database of decisions and working with lead pharmacists (medicines use and safety) to communicate decisionsMaintain effective communication systems including the teams generic email, distribution lists, Scriptswitch, the local intranet, regular newsletters as appropriate.Contribute to reports as required by line manager. Responsible for the development of resources to support the provision of education and training to practice staff and other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Act as a point of contact for issues relating to medicines optimisation for PCNs, practices and the primary care, including care homes.Within their sphere of competence, provide advice and signpost to support to the practice team and care homes on specific prescribing related problems, keeping a record of information given and action taken.Report agreed key information on medicines-related issues to relevant stakeholders and feedback information to the medicines optimisation team.Work with all healthcare professionals in the delivery of medicines optimisation.Attend and participate in practice/PCN meetings as required to update and share information relating to medicines quality and safetyLead on agreed areas as appropriate.Attend and participate in medicines optimisation team and ICB meetings as required.Undertake other duties as appropriate.Support the successful achievement of all ICB targets and objectives.Support the team to maintain registers of non-medical prescribers.The role may involve discussions /negotiations with other healthcare professionals to deliver on the ICB priority medicines quality and safety targets.
