Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School has a fantastic opportunity for a committed and motivated Facilities Assistant to join our collaborative team from as soon as possible. This position will assist the wider Estates Team with the care of the academy premises, ranging from general maintenance duties including minor repair and refurbishment works, porterage and other duties, supporting the Facilities Manager in ensuring the health and safety and security of a busy academy. Applicants will need a flexible approach to working hours and duties and may be required to cover the duties of other team members in their absence, occasionally.

The Facilities team comprises a Site manager and three other full-time staff, with additional support on a part-time basis from other staff, mainly during holiday periods. The facilities team work together to cover all opening hours of the school on a 3 week rotational shift pattern, including earlies (from 6.30am), daytime (8am-4pm) and late shifts (10:30-6.30pm and sometimes 1:30-9pm) with occasional work at weekends. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a school environment. As part of the role you will be required to cover as Banksman during periods of absence to monitor and ensure safe movements of all buses whilst on site in the school car park.

Your role in Lettings Support will be customer facing with our hirers using the school facilities. Your role as the Facilities Assistant in Restore is a commitment to bettering the outcomes of vulnerable children and imparting your knowledge and experience onto others to better the system of care in the youth secure estate. You will be a pivotal member of the maintenance team responsible for the general security and upkeep of the Restore site.
The role exists within a secure academy trust, benefiting from the organisational learning in governance and leadership within a national academy trust. This role reports to the Facilities Manager who has responsibility for the school’s maintenance and standards related to site and operations.
You and the team will work to support a team of specialists within education, care, and health and you will attend to all aspects of building, facilities and estate at Oasis Restore to ensure we achieve the highest quality standards in the Children's Homes Regulations and Guidance, the Social Care Common Inspection Framework and health and safety.
We recognise this role is unique and does not exist as such within the youth justice sectors. From our experience of building new organisations from scratch – and of developing schools – we have learnt that we need to be agile and respond to learning and development of our structures.
