The Medical Technician is responsible for performance, understanding and following all procedures while performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes in the following laboratory disciplines: Phlebotomy, Chemistry/Immunology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis and Microbiology. The procedures are performed on a variety of biological specimens using distinctive and precise manual laboratory techniques as well as elaborate complex integrated automated instrumentation. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Procure specimens from patients.
- Handle, accession, process and evaluate the acceptability of each specimen.
- Ensure correct identity and integrity of specimens throughout the pre-analytical stage.
- Maintain supplies and organize a timely flow of specimens for testing.
- Utilized centrifuges, automated processors, refrigerators and freezers.
- Documents temperatures and records maintenance.
- Review delta checks, patient medical history and previous lab results.
- Documents all quality assurance protocols for each procedure.
- Evaluates the validity of date in relation to the test system.
- Correlated quantitative data with patient data to verify results.
- Performs additional tests to clarify or confirm patient results.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 830AM-5PM
