Applications are invited for two fixed-term, full-time Pilot Plant Technician roles working in the Nuclear Future Institute (NFI) at Bangor University, part of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. This exciting opportunity will provide skills and experience of working within the nuclear fusion industry, working on state-of-the-art research facilities and providing input to current development at the University.
Duties will include assisting in the construction and operation of a number of fusion energy relevant testing rigs and supporting the NFI's research in nuclear fusion. The technicians will have the opportunity, as part of a team, to work in partnership with large industry organisations.
Candidates should be educated to A-level standard (or equivalent, including in-work training and experience) in chemistry or a related subject and have previous experience working as a technician or have an engineering background. Clear communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on this exciting project are essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence on 01/01/2025 and the post is available until 31/03/2025.
This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
