We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Science Technician to provide technical support to teaching staff in our successful Science Department. With an interest and experience in Physics, Biology or Chemistry, the ideal applicant will be able to transfer their key skills and knowledge into a forward thinking and proactive educational environment.
The Science Technician will work as part of a team of technicians servicing laboratories, preparing materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons as requested by the teaching staff and the Science Technician Manager.

Working throughout the year, Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday (approx. 3-4 per year), 40 hours per week, 10.30am – 7.00pm. Key responsibilities of the role include portering, parking management, event logistics and site security. There will also be general repairs and maintenance across the site.
The successful applicant will be a strong team member and equally capable of working on their own. A good standard of DIY skills to undertake general maintenance and repairs is desirable although training will be provided. Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage but is not essential. A strong customer service ethic is key.

IT Department at St Bede’s The Information Technology Department provides school departments with technology solutions and support. We strive to provide timely support and stable technology systems, to address the needs of various teaching departments and admin offices, so they can in turn provide the students at St Bede’s with an outstanding learning experience. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
● To be responsible to the School Business Leader (SBL) for various duties relating to the security, operations, facilities management and monitoring of the school site, including the management and supervision of contractors on site.
● To lead a team to ensure that the school buildings, facilities, and grounds are maintained to the highest possible standard and are in proper working order. This will ensure compliance with relevant Health, Safety, and welfare legislation and provide a safe working environment for all facility users.
● To work with the SBL / Headteacher in support of future developmental activity, e.g., new builds, commercial use, procurement.
● To be the lead contact for all site/facilities issues.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
● Previous substantial experience within an FM / Site / Building environment.
● Practical experience and knowledge of health & safety legislation and its application in a multi-user sit and ability to lead a small team and allocate work.
● Time management and communication skills.
● Able to cope with the physical demands and changing priorities of the post.
● The post holder needs a good level of practical skills, which may have been gained from various sources, e.g., working in a trade, previous FM experience, etc., and experience working in a multi-disciplinary role with a range of customers.
These may include:
● buildings and grounds maintenance, I.T. to include FM software,
spreadsheets, databases; safe use of ladders and platforms, manual handling techniques, fire
● safety measures, security issues (including re-programming alarms), safe use of power tools,
● boiler maintenance, locksmith techniques, cleaning and maintenance of floor coverings
● Use of specialist equipment; expert knowledge and skills when undertaking professional trade jobs, e.g., plumbing, welding, etc. COSHH issues, electrical safety, procurement/contractor lists / financial regulations, and waste disposal procedures.

The school wishes to recruit a Design and Technology Technician to help prepare, organise and maintain D&T resources, materials, and equipment in the teaching rooms and workshops.
