Role: Facilities Multi Trade OperativeLocation: Trust Head Office Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week all year around Salary: Grade 6 Scale point 18 - 22 £30,559 - £32,654Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Multi trade Operative to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and maintenance of our schools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various trades, including plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs, and be committed to upholding high standards of health and safety. Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Repairs: Carry out repairs in occupied schools based on instructions from the Team Leader Maintenance. Health and Safety: Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation, wear personal protective equipment, and ensure a safe environment for all. Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team and, when needed, support apprentices and colleagues. Problem Solving: Aim for a first-time fix on repairs, diagnose faults quickly, and work to reduce costs without compromising quality. Project Management: Oversee minor installation or alteration works and liaise with subcontractors for quotes. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct building maintenance in line with regulations and best practices. Building Safety: Lock/unlock school buildings as required, respond to breakdowns, and ensure areas are safe and secure. Facilities Support: Escort contractors and service engineers as needed and assist the Central Estates team in emergencies. Other Duties Weather-Related Tasks: Clear snow, grit paths, and respond to adverse weather conditions. Team Support: Provide assistance to the Central Estates team with general site duties as required. Key Knowledge and Skills Trades Expertise: Knowledge of various trades and experience in general repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. Health and Safety: Understanding of safety protocols, including Working from Heights, Manual Handling, and Asbestos Awareness. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with good IT and organisational abilities. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to manage workloads, reprioritise tasks as needed, and work under pressure. Essential Requirements Education: GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent). Experience: Prior experience in a maintenance or facilities role. Physical Ability: Able to work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical tasks related to the job. Driving Licence: Valid driving licence required.
