Duties:

Major duties and responsibilities include:

· Receiving work assignments and direction regarding work methods, procedures and schedules from either the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Mobility Manager.

· Arriving at and departing from pickup and discharge points at scheduled times.

· Reading installation maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route.

· Enforcing passenger safety and seatbelt use.

· Using multiple variations of Mobile Data Computer (MDC) in and out of the vehicles for assigned trips and duties daily.

· Loading and unloading patients and medical supplies.

· Performing operator maintenance such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.

· Maintaining records and document actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.

· Using two-way radios (or other device) to maintain communications with dispatcher/supervisor on assignments and locations.

· Possessing Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement is required for the position.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. • Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment, such as those which are toxic, radioactive, perishable, classified, high-valued equipment, precious/strategic metals, and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components
• Maintains an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items. Verifies items/equipment are properly identified and marked/tagged

• Uses audio-visual technology to create productions ranging from news features, public service announcements and interactive productions, to training and informational videos on virtually any topic.

• Operate one or more diesel electric locomotives to move a variety of sizes, weights and number of railroad cars containing hazardous cargo.
• Follow railroad and locomotive safety rules and procedures to operate under adverse weather conditions and/or poor visibility.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs to railroad box cars, flat cars, and locomotives.
• Perform coupling and uncoupling operations involved in making and breaking up trains.
• Receive and relay messages to the crew for placement of train cars.
• Plan the best sequence of arranging, picking up and setting out train cars.

- Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers. Performs non-supervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led.

- Performs GMV Training and Certification within the Training, Validation Office (TVO) and leads other military and civilians performing training. Trains newly assigned military vehicle operators on a wide range of vehicles to include buses, tractor trailer, forklifts, wrecker/recovery vehicles, passenger vans/buses ranging from 12 passengers to 55 passengers.

- Administers Installation GMV Licensing Function and Installation Vehicle Misuse Program. Performs Operator Records and Licensing functions within the TVO office issuing and updating GMV licenses for personnel across JBSA.

- Drives buses, tractor trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds to include wrecker/recovery vehicles, and one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties. May be required to transport bulky and unwieldy items.

- Maintains records and documents actions. Properly completes operator/customer inspections checklists, forms and accident/incident reports as required.

The Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (BORSTAR Operator) serves as a First Line Supervisor in a primary law enforcement office position under 5 U.S.C. 8331(c) and 8412(d). Duties and responsibilities include:

• Serving as a first-line supervisor over BPAs engaged in law enforcement work, supervising a specially trained and equipped search and rescue unit to conduct high-risk and specialized law enforcement responses, often in short notice, to situations of local, regional and national significance.
• Planning and coordinating the search and rescue, tactical medicine, technical rescue, land navigation, communication, swift-water rescue, and air operations and logistical programs that facilitate the fielding of a BORSTAR special response team.
• Testifying in court on behalf of both criminal and administrative proceedings; and/or ensuring subordinate BPAs are capable of carrying out the task.
• Resolving discrepancies, reviewing criminal complaints, and managing the tracking of suspects and evidence, and the coordination of assignments for BPAs who testify in court on behalf of both criminal and administrative proceedings.
• Ensuring that the USBP strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the unit and integrated into the unit's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
