Job Description

Perform the Manufacturing Engineering activity in Engine Overhaul/Component Repair production areas. Act as Technical Authority, assuring the initial and continuing capability of the Production method to produce conforming product and ensuring the resolution of technical issues/problems/arisings to meet business and customer requirements for safety, cost, delivery rate and leadtime (SQCD). Support integration on all Manufacturing Engineering activities across the product lifecycle and through the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• HSE – Practice full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme. Product Safety – Understand product safety risks and work on mitigation to meet the required safety levels supporting requirements of the Company’s Safety Management System.
• Quality – Practice a culture of zero defects ensuring that manufacturing processes and methods within the business are developed and deployed to support Right First methodology. Support process and product related Quality investigation, and manage NADCAP accreditation.
• Delivery – Ensure that manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture within the business and suppliers are developed and deployed to support/deliver Right First Time manufacture using SPS, DMAIC and System Engineering tools. Manage FAIR/MSA activities and Source & method change in the cell/area of accountability.
• Delivery – Review issues identified e.g. Troubleshoot Strip / Build, Balancing, Runout, In-situ repair, Component Repair processes and key equipment/toolings (ITT, VTL, BTG, Wash, FTB, CMM, etc), determine resolutions and reestablish the Standards.
• Cost – Support cell/area of accountability to meet cost targets e.g. productivity, CONQ etc.
• Standards – Deploy and sustain the SAESL Operating System Standards by working with the Cell/Area CFT, and where applicable with the suppliers. Identify opportunity to improve the Standards. Technical Authority – Specify Manufacturing Engineering and process requirements and make technical decisions in relation to the cell/area of accountability.
• Lean/Improvement – Identify requirements for improvements and innovations in manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture within their cell/area of accountability. Requirements

Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.

Willing to work in Changi.

Lead & support the Manufacturing Engineering activity in Engine Overhaul/Component Repair Production Area. Act as Technical Authority, owner of the Engineering Standards in SAESL Operating System and ensure deployment of the initial and continuing process capability standard of the methods to the cell including the resolution of the technical issues/problems/arisings to meet operation cell requirements of safety, cost delivery rate and leadtime (SQCD).

Responsibilities

• HSE – Responsible for ensuring that all processes and methods deployed within the cell/area of accountability are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm Programme.
• Product Safety – Responsible for ensuring that product safety risks are understood and mitigated to meet the required safety levels and reduce the safety risks so far as is reasonably practicable. Support requirements of the Company’s Safety Management System, and for promoting a product safety culture in the organization.
• Safety & Quality – To promote a Behavioral Based Safety Culture. Together with Operation advocate ‘Speak Up’ and embed the elements of Narrate & Demonstrate in the areas of responsibilities.
• Quality – Promote a culture of zero defects ensuring that manufacturing processes and methods within the business are developed and deployed to support Right First Time methodology.
• Coach the team in the use of SAESL Operating Sytem, DMAIC and Sytem Engineerin Tools. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies, and standards.
• Cost – To provide leadership to Manufacturing Engineers to support operation cells to drive productivity and optimize OPEX costs.
• Standards – define, maintain and enhance to SAESL Operating System Standards. Provide Tools for ME to imrplement the Standards, working with the cell/area of accountability and Process Owners, and where applicable with the suppliers, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
• Identify, synthesise and locally govern the requirements for improvements and innovations in manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture within their area of accountability.
• Lead – Act as Technical Authority specifying Manufacturing Engineering, process requirements, methods and make technical decisions in relation to the area of accountability including FAIR/MSA activities and Source & method change.
• Lead – To provide leadership to drive accountability and enablement through engagement and coaching team members, so that everyone can be at their best.
• People – Develop talent to meet the required competencies for the Manufacturing Engineers. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in understanding existing and new activities.
• Capability & Technology – Lead the technical input and integrate Manufacturing Technology, Digital Manufacturing and Product Introduction activities to support growth, capability and capacity to achieve operational planned objectives.
• Deploy capability (including NPI) – Buy –off the production readiness of new manufacturing capabilities and assemblies.
• Develop numerate, real time methods for capturing process capability, and ensure it is available and acted on within the facility/supply chain.
• Maintain and/or govern Production Technical Packages (technical instructions, programmes, tooling, etc) for all parts/assemblies which clearly define the manufacturing process.
• Ensure manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture within the business and suppliers are capable of meeting and continuing to meet the requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and time.
• Co-ordinate the technical support to operations and suppliers such that problems and arising are resolved in a structured and timely manner.

• Perform sample preparation including cutting, mounting, grinding & polishing on test samples in the lab for daily productions, repair development processes.
• Co-ordinate and prepare samples as necessary for lab technician to evaluate.
• Ensure proper storage and document of all test coupons.
• Responsible for maintaining, servicing and cleaning of all lab equipment.
• Ensure good housekeeping is maintained in the lab.

• Manage the acquisition, delivery and commissioning of capital equipment, turnkey solutions and ancillary fixtures/ tooling
• Industrialize additive manufacturing capability through the development of new process and procedures
• Manage the transfer of new products and know-hows from pre-production site to manufacturing site for mass production. Successful candidate will be expected to be posted overseas for training and technology transfer

Responsibilities
• Manage the acquisition, delivery and commissioning of capital equipment, turnkey solutions and ancillary fixtures/ tooling
• Industrialize adaptive manufacturing capability through the development of new process and procedures
• Manage the transfer of new products and know-hows from pre-production site to manufacturing site for mass production. Successful candidate will be expected to be posted overseas for training and technology transfer
• Implement and deliver new repairs by designing and fabricating new repair fixtures/ tooling; developing process parameters; and validating repair setup through First Article Inspection
• Provide technical assistance to all functional departments to meet business objectives
• Effectively apply process control (SPC) to monitor, analyze and define errant processes; and to refine processes to reduce variability
• Function as on-site technical authority and liaise with technical specialists for CAM and non-contact measurement related repair processes.
• Lead and own CAM and non-contact measurement activities
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor


Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Possess knowledge (theory and practical) on digital manufacturing and conventional machining
• Experience in operating non-contact measurement equipment and Siemens NX multi-axis manufacturing module
• Understanding of common component repair processes (welding, heat treatment, NDT) and familiarity with digital manufacturing and/or proficiency in CNC programming is an advantage
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and GD&T
• Able to multi-task and work well under pressure as an individual/ team
• Possess good communication, analytical , engineering and project management skills
• Good technical problem solving skills, takes ownership and hands-on approach

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Possess knowledge (theory and practical) on laser cladding (solid state lasers and blown powder laser) and metallurgical characterization
• Understanding of common component repair processes (welding, heat treatment, machining, NDT) and familiarity with digital manufacturing and/or proficiency in CNC programming is an advantage
• Experience in beam characterization using commerically available equipment
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and GD&T
• Able to multi-task and work well under pressure as an individual/ team
• Possess good communication, analytical , engineering and project management skills
• Good technical problem solving skills, takes ownership and hands-on approach
