As an independent division within Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, Inc., ControlTech Automation (CTA) is a control panel integrator and fabricator for process, packaging, utility, and other industries. CTA is based in St. Louis and specializes in control panels for systems integrators and production facilities located throughout the United States. CTA can provide control solutions for a single piece of equipment, an entire process, or a complete plant. What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced Assembly Lead to oversee all aspects of control panel assembly at our manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role ensures efficient assembly operations, quality, and coordination between departments to meet production goals.

• Lead and train a team of assemblers on assembly processes, safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing best practices.
• Plan and assign daily assembly tasks to team members based on priorities and production schedules.
• Facilitate departmental meetings and create shift end reports.
• Perform complex control panel assembly that requires specialized skills and knowledge.
• Participate in or delegate kickoff meetings for new projects.
• Make decisions on wire routing and control panel layout

What You’ll Bring

Position Description:

The Saw Operator is responsible for setting up and running the saw machine to support all our manufactured parts and processes, with a safety-first mindset.  The duties and responsibilities of a Saw Operator are to ensure that all jobs are completed on time and that the saw area and raw material inventory are kept clean and organized, and in compliance with safety standards. The Saw Operator actively engages in our Lean journey by building and acting on continuous improvement and development opportunities. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform all work with a safety-first mindset, following established safety procedures.
• Sets up Saw Machine and cuts raw materials used in production, adjusting as needed.
• Determine speeds, feeds, tooling, and operation sequences for a considerable range of operations or set-ups.
• Calculate the optimum material utilization for each bar to avoid excessive scrap. 
• Clean, cut and debug steel working from prints, bills of material, route sheets and requisitions.
• Perform secondary operations including, but not limited to simple lay-out, drilling, tapping, etc. when not cutting material.
• Unload, inspect, confirm, put away, and complete the receiving transactions on steel shipments as required.
• Maintain accurate inventory by performing raw material cycle counts, may maintain a written daily inventory of steel.
• Review inventory data using electronic database as needed.
• Clean, Maintain, and Organize Saw and Raw Material work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Operate materials handling equipment such as a forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks, or dollies to move stock or organize storage.
• Attend team meetings; may provide input on quality, cost, or production issues, and participate in Continuous Improvement events and projects.
• Regularly and effectively communicate and interact with other team members.
• Support Production as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned and needed.

Job Specifications:

• Must be able to read and understand prints
• Possess basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Able to measure with tape measure, scale, calipers, and micrometers.
• Knowledge of materials: able to distinguish and be familiar with many different types of steel such as stainless, aluminum and plastics.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will supervise all levels of Electro-Mechanical Assemblers and field service technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

A Moderate amount of time will be spent sitting, some time will be spent walking, and considerable amount of time will be spent standing. Close and color vision is required for the small parts used in assembly and for the distinct color of wiring used in assembly. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

A minimal amount of time will be spent working near moving mechanical parts and with risk of electrical shock. The noise level is expected to be between moderate and loud (air compressors).
