About the role
As Conservation Project Manager you will bring together project management skills, specialist conservation and collections care expertise, problem solving, and team leadership skills to deliver collections projects at NCC. More information about NCC can be found below.

Reporting to the Group Conservation Manager, you will work collaboratively and proactively with other Project Managers and departments to enable the Conservation team to deliver Masterplan and Collections Services projects. This includes ensuring that conservation and collection care elements are correctly scoped and resourced and that conservation budgets are managed accordingly.

You will manage and matrix manage conservators across several projects. Using your conservation specialist knowledge of materials and practices, you will help your team plan works and review processes to ensure they are fit for purpose, making decisions to improve efficiencies and ways of working.

Full time (35 hours), Fixed term contract until Dec 2025 - Hybrid working from Wroughton Office.
Offering £40,133 per annum

There may be the possibility of the extension for this role depending on the Science Museum Group work programme.

About you
You will have solid experience of conservation project management with the ability to analyse, forward plan, coordinate and manage people. From this, you have the ability to find innovative conservation solutions to complex problems, and to define and report on key performance indicators, key dependencies and milestones and risk.

With great people and negotiation skills, you can maintain a strong reputation for delivery whist effectively engaging with senior stakeholders, and acting as a successful, and trusted ambassador for your team.

This position is based at the National Collections Centre, at the Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton within the Collection Services Department.

Key Responsibilities

What you will be doing

Operational Delivery

Duties and Responsibilities Operational Delivery Support the Chief Operating Officers team with the development and delivery of a strategic vision, in line with the Trust Strategy, ensuring that service changes meet internal and external expectations and standards. Provide business support to the Chief Operating Officer and the senior team and deal with the day to day operational issues within the Chief Operating Officers Office. Manage and develop the implementation of effective office systems, control processes, budget management and bids control and evaluation, and risk management arrangements. Support the Chief Operating Officers team in operational elements to achieve all standards for example: UEC performance, Elective and Cancer performance, contractual requirements. Support the Chief Operating Officers team in the monitoring of compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements. Undertake specific areas of project work on behalf of the Chief Operating Officers office, including business cases and recruitment processes. Monitor goals and milestones that have been set by the Chief Operating Officer across the different functions in line with agreed objectives, then measure and report on delivery. Drive and manage, on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer, the preparation of the department business plan, ensuring business plans are prepared by all functions within the Chief Operating Officers office. Participate in meetings with members of management teams and administrative staff. Lead on digital communication strategy that promotes the agenda of the Chief Operating Officers office. Identify national/regional policy directives applicable to the Chief Operating Officers office agenda and lead on their integration into the any Chief Operating Officers offices Business Plan in conjunction with the relevant Director. In conjunction with relevant leads, develop and monitor action plans to support delivery of operational performance standards, and report to the Chief Operating Officer. Monitor compliance within the Chief Operating Officers office with staff management policies and procedures and take remedial action with accountable Directors where shortfalls occur. Provide leadership to Chief Operating Officers office staff, including ensuring they receive necessary training, undertake statutory and mandatory training and have completed their appraisals in order to complete their role. Develop job descriptions for replacement or new positions as they arise. Establish a system to monitor and report on the annual Chief Operating Officers budget, liaising with the Senior Team to analyse data commenting on value for money, cost benefit, spend throughout the year, ensuring Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) savings are planned. Oversee the development and publication of the Trusts Silver management rota Service Development and Project Management Support the Chief Operating Officer in identifying both new opportunities for the Directorate arising from changes in the external environment or internal innovation and potential threats and ways to respond to them. Contribute to business planning and strategy development and direction for the Chief Operating Officers office. Manage a range of service improvement projects, e.g. Cost Improvement Schemes, short term and long term, within the Chief Operating Officers office and contribute to both Chief Operating Officers office and Trust-wide improvement projects within agreed timeframes and financial targets, including the quality review of CIP proposals. Manage key projects for the Chief Operating Officer to support the delivery of the departments objectives. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, highly motivated and experienced Therapeutic Radiographer to join our friendly and welcoming team at theOxford Cancer Centre to work in a split role between Physics Planning & Pre-treatment/Treatment .

Our equipment refresh programme is complete with two Varian Halcyon linacs & 3 Truebeams with RGSC & 6Dof couches, one of which has Hyperarc . Pre-treatment houses 2 GoSim CT scanners with auto-contouring software. Our satellite unit in Swindon houses 2 Trubeam linacs with 6DoF couches and a GoSim CT scanner and our single linac with a GoSim CT scanner satellite centre in Milton Keynes opens later this year.

Patients are at the heart of what we do, and we are looking for Therapeutic Radiographers who can deliver excellent care with compassion and respect. We deliver a range of techniques including IMRT, VMAT, DIBH, IGRT, complex SABR, SRS/SRT, TBI - all grades are expected and encouraged to participate in these treatment and verification techniques.

Work as a senior member of the team of Radiographers covering all sections of the department including mould room, CT scanning, virtual simulation and contouring, delivery of a wide range of both simple & complex treatment and IGRT techniques.

Work on a rotational basis through all clinical areas; treatment floor, pre-treatment area and Radiotherapy Physics treatment planning.

Participate in all aspects of the treatment planning service. This includes carrying out highly complex treatment planning, introducing new techniques and carrying out applied research.

Support the team leader in the day-to-day management of their assigned pre-treatment or treatment work area, assisting in the organisation and management of the clinical workload.

Liaising with the multidisciplinary team.

Assist with the day-to-day organisation of a treatment unit to ensure an efficient service is delivered and workload targets are achieved.
