Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS), Serco operates across 105 courts and 16 vehicle bases throughout London, East & West England. On average we transport over 21,000 custodies per month and at the core of our service is our Operational Control Centre Team (OCC) working to ensure custodies are transported on time, on schedule and in a safe & secure way.

The centre is open 24/6 and whilst you’ll cover various shift patterns (which will include Nights & Weekends), we do operate on a rota basis that allows you the flexibility to enjoy meaningful time off to do the things you love (we typically work on average 12-hour shifts, 4 out of 7 days per week on a rota basis but we also offer flexible working options)
What you’ll do day to day:
Firstly, you’ll be responsible for the planning and scheduling of vehicles to ensure the safe transport of custodies in line with the agreed service delivery. You’ll work closely with our crews & establishments (Prisons, Courts etc) to ensure custodies are transported on time and in a safe & secure manner. Using a number of IT applications you will be responsible for monitoring the vehicles and responding to emergency alarms raised by crews. You will work with multiple agencies ensuring the safe and secure delivery of the custodies return to their destination! It doesn’t always run smoothly though, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to adapt to any unpredictable changes and deal with any incidents or challenges that occur throughout the day!
What you need to do the role:
If you are detail oriented, highly organised, resilient with exceptional communication skills, then we want to hear from you! Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in a similar role, when you have been involved in organising large scale logistics / scheduling plans in a large geographical area! You’ll be computer literate with the ability to quickly assimilate large volumes of data/information. Experience is not essential as we will provide full training, however if you do have experience in a similar role, it would be highly beneficial.

- This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
- You will be required to obtain Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting & Enhanced DBS with Child Barring.
