Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Manager looking to move into Project Management with a background in industrial services and scaffolding, to manage small packages of work. Based at Sellafield your key activities will be site supervision ensuring scaffolding projects are carried out to the highest level of health and safety in a Nuclear environment. This role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of scaffolding projects, ensuring they meet client specifications, safety standards, and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.

• Plan, manage, and oversee scaffolding projects from inception to completion on nuclear sites. This includes budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring project milestones are met.

• Supervise on-site activities, ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations, particularly those specific to nuclear environments.

• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.

• Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all work meets the required standards and specifications.

• Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and safety records.

• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience in site/project management within the industrial services sector, with a focus on scaffolding in nuclear environments.
• Professional certifications such as SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) and CSCS Black Card.
• Comprehensive understanding of scaffolding techniques, nuclear safety protocols, and relevant UK regulations.
• Due to the secure nature of the location, it is essential that you are eligible to hold a UK security clearance.

Overview of role

- Create and maintain project schedules that support and align with project requirements;

- Able to coordinate and work with other teams and have basic multi-disciplinary knowledge;

Situated at the Windscale facility, this position will offer direct assistance to facility operations in enhancing overall operational effectiveness through incremental improvement initiatives. Main Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities for Business Improvement Practitioner:

• Select, introduce, and standardise Improvement tools and techniques across the business, for example standard work, Value Stream Mapping, Waste identification, SIPOC, 5S, Root Cause Analysis and charters, as appropriate for the facility.
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement opportunities, training and workshops driving cultural change guided by business data and implementing industry best practices.

About the business unit 
The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.  This particular role will be sat in our Energy division offering an extensive range of programme support capabilities to our Nuclear Energy clients and offers applicants exposure to interesting and complex projects around the Cumbria area.

The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management. 


Overview of role

Any offers on this role are conditional to you already holding or gaining Security Clearance (SC).
We provide an extensive range of purpose-driven PMO and Controls services to a wide range of clients across infrastructure and the built environment, including multiple global programmes. Mott MacDonald are looking to hire project controls professionals in mid-level and senior bands.

What you will contribute to the team;

- Analytical skills to prepare and critically evaluate performance measures (inc. earned value) and trends across multiple datasets
- Ability to focus on key issues, and drive out mitigating or recovery actions across the project
- Good people management and task facilitation skills
- Experience of implementing robust project controls processes and toolsets in relevant industries



Essential


- Due to the nature of this role, you must hold existing Secuirty Clearance (SC) or be eligable for SC.
- A background working on Nuclear Energy projects or on other large scale, highly regulated projects in industries such a Oil & Gas.
- Educated to degree level and/or hold a project controls or management qualification (e.g. APMG Planning and Controls, EVM, PMQ, Prince2)
- Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors and clients
- Risk management and reporting including the use of ARM
- Knowledge and proficiency with Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project and/or other planning and resourcing software;
- Create and maintain project schedules that support and align with project requirements;
- Reduce uncertainty on projects by adapting project methodology;
- Project reporting including monitoring of KPIs;
- Undertake project reviews;
- Able to coordinate and work with other teams and have basic multi-disciplinary knowledge;
- Comfortable working as a consultant within a client environment;
- Strong stakeholder management experience
