Do you have experience of working in a school environment, excellent organisation and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines? We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced School Business Manager with an excellent understanding of school operations to join our join our friendly and successful large primary school.

The successful candidate will be expected to either hold or be prepared, within the first year, to achieve the Certificate in School Business Management (CSBM) or Level 5 Diploma for School Business Leaders (DSBM) or an equivalent qualification

We are looking for someone to provide vision, knowledge and expertise in all areas of administration, procurement, resource management and strategic planning for our school.

The position is for 37 hours a week, although flexible working would be considered.

The core purpose of the role will be to:

• Lead and manage the school's finances, including budget setting and monitoring.
• Manage the school's contracts and premises; overseeing maintenance and improvement programmes.
• Be responsible for HR functions within the schools, payroll submissions, and recruitment.
• Ensure accurate financial, HR and training records are maintained
• Complete and submit statutory financial returns.
• Advise the SLT and Governors on all financial, premises and HR matters.
• Line manage premises staff including appraisals.

The successful applicant will have:

• Experience of managing school finances, administration, management information.
• Experience and knowledge of financial management, budgetary planning and control.
• Experience of human resources processes and management.
• Knowledge of safer recruitment practices.
• Excellent working knowledge of ICT systems and a knowledge of
• SIMS or similar accountancy software.
• Ability to adapt and develop administrative systems and procedures.
• Organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Proven experience of financial management, budgetary planning and control.
• Experience of facilities management and an understanding of Health and Safety issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to present both written, and verbal information for the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governors.
• The ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
• A good sense of humour and be welcoming and friendly.

The Role:

• Assess and monitor students’ progress across the area and ensure steps are in place to drive improvement.
• Ensure that the curriculum is fit for purpose, including developing it for future changes in the courses available.
• Maintain and improve leadership and teaching within the area, including the line management of staff.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school community through extracurricular activities or pastoral support.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Strong subject knowledge of Computer Science and/or Business, with the ability to teach up to A Level.
• Leadership experience that can demonstrate a positive impact on learning and achievement.
• A passion for teaching and leadership, with a commitment to student progress and achievement.
• Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally including experience of line managing staff.
• An understanding and appreciation of the school’s Christian ethos and values.

The Computing & Business team are dynamic and reflective. We teach KS3 Computing and at KS4 we currently offer GCSE Computer Science, BTEC DIT, Cambridge National iMedia, GCSE Business Studies, BTEC Enterprise, BTEC Travel & Tourism and BTEC WorkSkills. At KS5 we currently offer A Level Computer Science, A Level Economics, A Level Business Studies, and BTEC L3 Business Studies. Outcomes have been consistently good without being outstanding.
