As our new Fire & Security Engineer, you will report into the Facilities Manager and work alongside a team of multi-skilled engineers within the Facilities Services Team to carry out maintenance works in all aspects of security systems.

What do you need?

What academic qualifications do you need?

· GCSE Maths and English at a minimum of grade C or 4 (or equivalent qualification, such as level 2 functional skills in Maths and English)

· Applicants with passes in two A Levels (or equivalent) consisting of 32 UCAS points will automatically meet the academic entry requirements

Job Overview

You are required to provide safety and security to our customer's property, people and/or assets in line with the published Assignment Instructions, delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators. Provide exceptional customer service to both staff and visitors alike, as well as undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development, all whilst upholding both Mitie and our clients reputation.



Main Duties

-Use ASCONE to maintain the security of the site.

-Conduct regular patrols of the site.

-Monitoring self-scan area

-Deliver customer service to both staff and visitors.

-Support the staff with any reasonable request.

-Ensure the relevant reports are completed for accurate information to be recorded.

Training

For this role, you will be required to fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training, as well as undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Operations Manager. You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.



Security and Health & Safety

-Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.

-Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage, whilst using common sense and initiative to ensure the situation does not become threatening.

-To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.

-Complete an accurate and detailed entry of any incidents that occur on the system provided on site.

-To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

We’re looking for a Fire & Security Engineer to join us at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Centre in Bedfordshire – a fully contained residential centre housing adult men and women. We focus on decency and respect in all aspects of care for our residents and use continuous innovation to further improve and develop our service.

As our new Fire & Security Engineer, you will report into the Facilities Manager and work alongside a team of multi-skilled engineers within the Facilities Services Team to carry out maintenance works in all aspects of security systems.

You will carry out system reactive and preventative maintenance works in all aspects of security systems, fire detection, life safety equipment whilst complying with all Health & Safety legislations. You must be able to carry out investigations into the performance of the plant and equipment installed on site and produce related reports and recommendations as may be required. Other key responsibilities will include:


- Assist in specifying and obtaining spare parts/other items of equipment to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the technical estate.
- Ensuring various pre-planned maintenance schedules are kept up to date and maintained.
- Assisting in multi-trade support of other members of the FM team.


Overall, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a supportive team and taking pride in what they do as we are a tight-knit unit within the Centre environment, you will also have the opportunity as part of your role to receive ongoing training to further develop your engineering skills.
