Retail Security Officer - M&S

Location: M&S Store, relief position to cover M&S stores in South-West London

Salary - £13.30 per hour

Guaranteed 40 hours per week

Job Overview

-Retail Security Officer role to protect the M&S store, its people, and/or assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and M&S key values.

-Company funded SIA Licence renewal.

-£13.30 per hour payrate alongside numerous Mitie benefits including Save As You Earn, Share Incentive Plan, Cycle to Work, Life Assurance and Childcare Vouchers!

-Full and extensive training will be provided.

-Fully supported by the Security Operations Centre and provided with technology such as body worn camera and incident reporting mobile device.

-Delivering results that meet and/or exceed the expectations of Mitie and M&S by using all technology provided and following legal guidance.

What we are looking for

-Previous security or retail experience.

-SIA licence is desirable but not essential as full SIA training can be provided for the right candidate.

-Excellent communication skills.

-Energy and enthusiasm



Main Duties

Operations

-To be aware of and ensure compliance with all policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Operations Manager and in accordance with UK Law.

-Fully engage with Security Operations Centre (SOC) and use of all technology provided, including body cams and mobile devises to aid in the reporting of all incidents.

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).

-Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising yourself with any changes to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.

-To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties.



Training

-Fully complete all required training.

-To undertake training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Operations Manager.

-Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.

-You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry - this will be arranged by Mitie.

Security and Health & Safety

-Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.

-Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.

-Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.

-To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.

-Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.

-Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.

-To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

About The Role
We have a vacancy for a Security Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for protecting the security and safety of the identified buildings and personnel at a busy client site.

You will be working on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, 06:00 to 18:00, 42 hours per week; on a permanent, full-time basis. Your main responsibilities may also include:

• Acting as a first-line support to employees and visitors to the site, providing a professional and friendly service.
• Service area barrier control and traffic management.
• You will ensure that assigned tasks are completed in a professional and timely manner and meet relevant legislation.

• Greeting & Booking in Contractors & Visitors

• Key Control
• Sending/Responding to Emails

To succeed in this role you will need the following:

• Experience of working within the Security Industry is an advantage
• SIA licence is essential
• Must be computer literate
