Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
As a Security Analyst you will support the Engineering and Operations function and other Digital and Technology areas in the day to day activities around cyber defence and operational security, your goal is to be responsible for providing support and overseeing administrative tasks within technical security platforms. You will actively utilise various tools and methods to look for vulnerabilities and scheduling mitigation actions to minimise potential attack surfaces. Ensure that all operational security is aligned to the national initiatives of the NCSC, PSN and The Cyber Essential Frameworks.
Must be qualified in a cyber security competencies.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
- A degree and/or have relevant professional/experience in Cyber Security or Computer Science.
- Formal training in the administration of common ICT Security systems, voice and data networks or operating systems.
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
- Technological protective measures/countermeasures to prevent unauthorised access, misuse and malicious electronic attacks.
- Cyber Security best practise.
- Incident/Problem Management resolution.
- Administration of Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
- Experience with IT operations.
- Experience with troubleshooting and customer service preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High-level communication skills, both oral and written; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Keen attention to detail and excellent time management.
- The post holder is expected to demonstrate skills & competencies in a minimum of 3 of the following areas:
- Administration of Voice and Data Communication Technologies
- Administration of Server and Desktop operating systems
- Administration of Directory Services
- Administration of Corporate E-mail systems or O365, Azure Sentinel
- Administration of Gateway Security systems
- In addition, the post holder is expected to have the ability to:
- Grasp new topics quickly on a self-taught basis
- Create intelligence reports from associated systems.
