We are now looking to recruit a talented technician to support our academics and students within the laboratory ensuring equipment and materials are prepared for teaching and research. You will work within a team of technicians and therefore a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, along with effective interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential.

Working within the Civil Engineering and Built Environment laboratories it would be advantageous but not essential if you can demonstrate a working knowledge in one or more of the areas below, full training will be given to the successful candidate.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Asset Management Section as the Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) & Networks Officer. The post is critical to the Council’s effective implementation of its Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Delivery Plan (LHEEDP) and meeting its duties contained within the Heat Networks (Scotland) Act 2021. You will work in partnership with internal external stakeholders to effectively progress the LHEEDP and support the Climate Change Lead Officer in meeting the requirements of the Heat in Buildings Strategy.

You will be part of the Telecoms Team within the Infrastructure Section, predominately working with Cisco technologies.

You should have good knowledge and technical understanding of ICT infrastructure technologies, particularly for Cisco Networking, Switching & Routing Technologies, and Cisco Voice and Wireless.

As a developing IT Professional, you will be able to demonstrate technical analytical and problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and organised, be able to work to targets and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good verbal and written communication skills are also essential.

Demonstrable knowledge of Cyber security practices and standards is desirable as is experience of project work.

You will require to become a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to starting in this post.

You must hold a current UK driving licence to apply for this role.

This position is temporary until 30th June 2026.

Working Pattern

• Monday - Thursday: 8:45am - 4:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
• Friday: 8:45am - 4:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
