Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Software Developer Intern located in our Milpitas, CA site.

Reporting to the Special Projects Director, the student will be working on challenging projects in support of real-time business issues while developing skills and experiences.

What a typical day looks like:

• Manage and take full technical ownership of various projects
• Designing scalable web applications
• Assisting with technical design, and implementation of best practices and processes
• Building, testing, deploying and provisioning automation scripts to replace routine and repetitive tasks (from bug testing to operations)
• Collaborating closely with other project teams, solution architects, and hands-on developers to ensure that all DevOps strategy and objectives are aligned across teams
• Attend team meetings and support project work as needed

Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:

• Jr/Sr level undergrad pursuing Computer Engineering degree or related major
• Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
• Effective organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
• Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
• Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
• Previous internship experience a plus!

Internship Program Requirements:

• Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
• Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
• 3.0 minimum GPA

Pay Range (Applicable to California)

$17.10 USD - $23.51 USD Hourly

Position Overview   

The Autodesk Graphics Platform (AGP) Team is looking for a Software Engineer Intern, to dive into a Graphics Platform used by different Autodesk products, including Fusion, Revit, Inventor, 3ds Max, and Maya. Our works explore and extend open-source software like Aurora renderer, OpenUSD, MaterialX, glTF, OpenPBR, Autodesk Standard Surface, and Vulkan.  

Responsibilities   

• Design and write robust, readable, maintainable, and extensible code

• Produce both unit tests and developer documentation for new code 

• Debug existing subsystems and identify problem areas in the code while providing impacting solutions

• Profile and optimize existing code on a variety of platforms, and create performance and unit tests to catch any regressions   

Minimum Qualifications   

• Must be currently enrolled in a full-time, degree seeking program with a focus in computer science or computer graphics with an expected graduation in 2025

• Prior Experience with computer graphics application development   

• Strong CS Fundamentals (C++, Python) 

• Experience developing on Windows/Mac/Linux using Visual Studio   

• Experience with graphics APIs (such as DirectX, OpenGL), and shading languages (such as HLSL, GLSL)  

• Knowledge of Git source control system  

• Familiarity with open-source software like OpenUSD, MaterialX, Vulkan, etc. 

• Familiarity of build and deployment technologies such as jenkins and cmake

Autodesk Research hosts a residency program that explores emerging technologies and their potential impact on design, engineering, and fabrication. As an intern in the Research Network team, you will work alongside world-class researchers and contribute to the development of programs that engage Autodesk Research teams and residents. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Network Program Manager to design and implement programs that foster engagement and collaboration among Autodesk Research teams and residents
• Conduct interviews with research teams and residents to gather insights and feedback on program effectiveness
• Assist in the facilitation of workshops, meetings, and events to support objectives
• Deliver reports and presentations summarizing key findings and outcomes
