This is an exciting opportunity for a driven Software Engineer or Controls Engineer to directly influence and shape their product through new projects. The successful candidate will be directly involved in the specification and application, controlling the automation and interface of the company's machinery. The Software Engineer will be responsible for creating, managing and updating machine software applications, seeing a project through from Inception to Delivery, contributing to the full product life cycle.

My client in Glasgow is looking to bring on a Technical Architect/Consultant to support them for an initial 3 month project, Outside IR35.

Overview of the Business Problem:

The business' PMs have tracking methods in place however they are looking for someone who has lots of experience in Software Development Projects to make sure they have a single well understood method of how their backlogs are working to help bring these strands together. A model will be created to give the Senior Leaders in the business clarity of the resource allocation across all software development projects (business delivery, enterprise delivery, client). Ideally the structure will allow the appropriate costing of running projects and build a model that includes ROI calculations, forecasting and demand management to anticipate the financial impact of starting new projects.

Requirements:

• Familiar or have experience within the Azure DevOps Environment
• Experience in Solving Business problems through Technical Solutions
• Background and Strong experience in working in Software Development Projects
• Qualification or background in Finance/Accounting would be extremely beneficial for the role

What is the Role?

The System Performance group at SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a System Integration Manager (Power System Analysis) to lead a team providing detailed study support for major projects connecting to the transmission system in the north of Scotland. This role will involve the management of power system analysis specialists and the coordination of their activities with project teams and other parts of the business. The team will carry out the full range of studies required to ensure that complex projects such as HVDC, FACTS and new major AC reinforcements can be successfully integrated within our system.

The key duties & responsibilities will include:

- Plan and oversee the delivery of complex power system studies covering areas such as power quality, system stability and electromagnetic transients.

- Show technical leadership within the team and oversee the implementation of the quality assurance process for study work.

- Liaise with project teams, operational colleagues and equipment suppliers.

- Provide line management for the System Integration team members.

- Represent SSEN Transmission in external meetings and on industry workgroups.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in power system analysis, design and planning, ideally within the electricity transmission area, with working knowledge of the relevant industry and technical standards.

- A good understanding of power system modelling and analysis with experience in at least three of the following areas: load flow and short circuit calculations, dynamic (RMS) simulation, power quality and system monitoring, EMT simulation for transients, EMT simulation for control interaction studies and automation scripting.

- Experience of managing complex technical study work and line management.

- Excellent knowledge of the electricity industry, including interfaces with the regulator, the Electricity System Operator, other Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Operators.

- A degree in electrical engineering or related numerical discipline and ideally be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution and the ability to write clear and well-structured technical reports and specifications and provide focused information for senior management.

Role summary:

To deliver customers' products to the required premises ensuring all customers receive exceptional customer service as part of a multi-drop delivery route. The driver will ensure that all products are transported safely to the customers' premises, treating their freight as if it were their own.



Key responsibilities

-Represent DX in a professional manner at all times

-Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements at all times

-All daily checks are undertaken ensuring defects are immediately reported and correct paperwork completed

-Ensure all product are scanned using DX scanning equipment

-Ensure all deliveries are loaded safely prior to leaving the depot

-Observe DX procedures and policies at all times

-Manage your routing to ensure premium and timed deliveries are achieved

-Ensure the correct equipment and PPE, (personal protective equipment) is in good order and used at all times

-Ensure all delivery and on road issues are reported to the traffic office immediately

-Ensure the customer receives their deliveries in excellent condition every time

-Deal with any customer issues in a polite and effective manner

-Ensure collections are made in line with given instructions and times

-Must hold C1 or above on licence with valid DQC and Tacho card

The successful candidate will be directly involved in the specification and application, controlling the automation and interface of the company's machinery. They are looking for a highly experienced and knowledgeable Software Engineer who can join their Development & Engineering team, and add their knowledge and creativity to a world-class manufacturer.

The Software Engineer will be responsible for creating, managing and updating machine software applications, seeing a project through from Inception to Delivery, contributing to the full product life cycle.
You will work seamlessly with the Development Department, Process Engineering and Manufacturing, and be expected to play a lead role in all software development activities.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Development of software for automation and control of machinery.
• Support on site manufacturing and laboratory facilities.
• Interacting with customers during design and after sales support.
• Work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
• Actively working with all departments to identify problems and develop solutions to maximise quality.
• Maintain / continuously improve current product line.

We're looking for someone who has/is:

• Degree educated (or with equivalent experience) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or similar.
• Extensive experience using LabVIEW.
• Windows IoT experience.
