We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to join the Capital Programme Delivery Team to support our delivery objective focus of Fire Safety Upgrade works to Islington’s housing stock.
Working within the Fire Safety Team as part of the Capital Works Delivery programme, the Technical Support Officer will undertake a wide range of duties to assist all technical staff and managers within the division to deliver the overall project.
The ability to use your own initiative, attention to detail, and excellent customer care skills are essential in this role.
The Capital Programme Delivery Team is a large technical department made up of construction professionals from a range of disciplines such as architects, building surveyors/project managers, quantity surveyors, clerks of works and mechanical and electrical engineers. The team is responsible for delivering multi-million pound programmes of planned maintenance and improvement works to the council's extensive and diverse social housing stock across the borough, from estates to mansion blocks and street properties. This role will be key to the fire safety upgrade work programmes newly formed. It is an exciting time to be joining a new team.

Take responsibility for a range of business duties associated with the appointment, purchase and payment of goods and services for the team.
Assist with the smooth running of projects by taking responsibility for the preparation, processing and submission of various reports to other Council departments seeking necessary permissions, as and when directed (e.g. planning, building control, procurement etc.).
Undertake a wide range of office administration and management type duties, including the ordering and recording of office stationary and equipment, organising and servicing meetings, dealing with enquiries, corresponding with residents, photocopying, scanning etc.
Organising and collating information and data and preparing reports as directed.
Setting up and administering systems for the smooth running of the office and business of the Capital Programme Delivery team.
Take responsibility for the organising and maintenance of electronic and paper files for the Fire Safety Capital Programme team, both current and archived.
Work in a corporate, flexible and professional manner at all times.
Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with Islington Council’s Corporate Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
From time to time undertake work directly for the Head of Capital Programme, some of which may be confidential, or highly sensitive.
To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.
