Technical Officer
Starting salary between £28536 and £34629 per annum

Based at Regis Place Offices, Kings Lynn

If you have sound knowledge of housing construction and building techniques with experience of technical advice and guidance to members of the public including to older, vulnerable and disabled people, we have the perfect opportunity for you to join our Care and Repair Team.

Our team assess vulnerable client’s needs in their property to carry out any recommended adaptations which enable people to remain in their own homes to make a difference to the west Norfolk community. We need you to use your technical experience of property construction and/or housing repairs to improve, repair and adapt Clients homes. You will carry out home visits to assess and discuss the Clients housing needs and provide technical advice, preparing schedules of work, specifications and drawings as needed.

You will manage your own caseload and due to a significant amount of travelling you must have a full driving license and excellent time management skills. You must have an HNC or equivalent in a building related subject or 5 years technical experience with good communication skills and a sensitive approach.

Senior Technical Officer
Starting salary between £32220 and £39093 per annum

Based at Regis Place Offices, Kings Lynn

If you have a high degree of technical ability and broad experience in the construction industry with the ability to manage, motivate and lead a team carrying out a technical role, we have an opportunity for you to join our Care and Repair Team.

You will play a key role responsible for the day to day management of the Care and Repair Technical Officer Team to ensure it operates as efficiently as possible, and that works are carried out to a high standard. The team will provide technical advice to vulnerable client’s in their property for repairs and adaptations which enable people to remain in their own homes to make a difference to the west Norfolk community. You will also manage the technical complex cases ensuring cost effective solutions for our clients.

You will have a HND (or equivalent) in a building related subject with post qualification in a technical role including the use of computer aided design software, together with experience of effectively managing staff and performance. You will have thorough knowledge of building regulations, planning procedures and have expertise in Party Wall Act procedures, building defects and building pathology. You must have a full driving license to be able travel around the Borough.

Technical Support Officer
Salary between £25284 and £29460 per annum

Based at Kings Court Council Office

We have an opportunity for you to join our Planning and Environment Support Team. You will provide a wide and varied technical support and assistance for the Planning service including; receipt, validation and recording of a variety of planning and other applications; general enquiries and advice; preparation of planning committee agendas; assisting in the processing of land charge searches; appeal cases and officer support.

Educated to A Level standard you will have experience of working in a busy office including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be able to work effectively on your own initiative. You will have excellent communication and time management skills using a methodical and accurate approach to meet deadlines. You will also be able to read and interpret maps and plans.
