Belair Ag is a 25,000-hectare broad acre farm spread across 400km of the south, south-east of WA. Our cropping program consists of wheat, barley, canola and legumes. All staff at Belair Ag must be trustworthy, hardworking and have a thorough attitude. The role as Agricultural Technician will require you to be flexible in your approach to your daily tasks as we are largely governed by the weather. You will be based in Cascade but there is an expectation to travel and complete tasks at our Mt Madden property if needed. Comfortable accommodation will be provided. Meals are provided during seeding and harvest.
You must be able to work and communicate well as part of a team and as an individual.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Duties will include spraying, spreading, seeding, harvesting and general farm duties that go with broadacre cropping.
2. Monitoring crop growth to identify potential problems with insects, disease, or weeds
3. Providing technical support to farmers and other agricultural professionals in their fields
4. Performing soil tests to determine nutrient levels and pH levels in order to help farmers make informed decisions about which fertilizers to use on their crops
5. Conducting research on agricultural topics such as plant genetics, soil composition, and pest control methods
6. You will be required to operate our main farming equipment, including but not limited to:
• Claas Lexion 770 harvesters
