The role sits within the Compliance Team which is part of the HROD&T Operations Service who support the organisation in meeting its statutory obligations through the monitoring, reviewing and administration of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for new employees and renewals for existing staff and volunteers, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.
As an HR Officer within the Compliance Team, you will be responsible for efficiently handling Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks for the organisation. You will ensure that all applications are processed accurately and promptly, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with the DBS legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Process, countersign and manage DBS and BPSS applications.
- Review, verify and input applicant’s information with high level of accuracy.
- Maintain clear, organised records and manage sensitive data securely and in line with GDPR requirements.
- Liaise with applicants, internal teams and managers to ensure smooth processing and resolve queries.

- Good organisational and data management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience in a similar role or knowledge of processing DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) checks is desirable
- Excellent IT skills in a range of Microsoft packages
- Excellent communication skills- can communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing and adapt their style to suit the audience and situation.
