This post supportsthe Lead Pharmacist for Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Theatres in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to the critical care unit (approx. 50%), theatres and the surgical wards (approx. 50% combined)at this busy district general hospital. The post holder provides advice to the critical care department and theatres, and works on behalf of pharmacy to support perioperative management. The pharmacist works alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team, including consultants, junior doctors, advanced critical care practitioners and a range of specialist nurses, specialist pharmacists, junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to provide a robust clinical service.



Providing a core clinical pharmacy service to Critical and Perioperative care inpatients in line with the Trust’s clinical pharmacy standards.

Ensuring high quality, patient centred, and cost effective pharmaceutical care is provided for the patients from admission, during the inpatient stay and right through to the successful discharge from hospital. This includes the transfer of key information on to the patient’s primary care providers when appropriate.

Working alongside the critical care team to ensure theDepartment of Health Adult critical care D05 commissioning services andGuidelines for the Provision of Intensive care Services (GPICS) standards for pharmacy are met.

Actively providing medicines information and medication counselling to health care professionals, patients and/or carers, with an awareness of current trends and up to date research in the specialist area(s)

Working with multiprofessional teams across the critical care, anaesthesia and surgical directorates to produce, and review, medication guidelines that promote rational, economical and evidence based prescribing; with appropriate monitoring practice to ensure policies and guidelines are adhered to.

Working with relevant staff to participate in nationally required, and clinically appropriate, audits, research and risk management strategies.

Attending and contributing to clinical governance and finance, divisional and speciality meetings.

Support the lead pharmacists with drug budget management with the provision of evaluated medicine expenditure information to designated managers and clinicians within the critical care, anaesthesia and surgical directorates. In conjunction with the lead pharmacists, implement and manage services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care of critical care and surgical patients in Cornwall.

Working with relevant staff to reduce risks in medicine prescribing, storage & administration. Provide advice where required. Ensure statutory ward drug stock checks are carried out. Ensuring legal requirements are met. Reporting of clinical incidents and responding to drug errors by helping to investigate incidents, review practice and decrease risks.

· Completion of non-medical prescribing qualification and using this in daily practice to enhance the optimisation of patient’s medicines and enhance the discharge planning process.



· Supervise and train junior staff. Be a role model and mentor.



· Providing cross team cover for annual leave, sickness and training.



· Participation in general medicines optimisation activities, not otherwise specifically listed.

Momentum Instore have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Beauty Merchandiser on a flexible basis, working 8-hour days Monday to Friday as and when we have projects (2025).

We have a busy 6 weeks from the start of January 2025 (schedules of work to be given in December) and are looking for key people in your location. Paid training days will take place in December and paid before Christmas.

Work throughout 2025 on a project-by-project basis.

Role and Responsibilities


Visiting retailers and updating the stand
Moving parts around and resequencing stock according to a new planogram
Changing over the visuals
Maintaining the stand, keeping it looking fresh for customers that visit the store
Travelling to your depot* for kit collection, which is paid time.

A rare and exciting development opportunity has arisen for an individual to work within the haematology clinical nurse specialist team. This would suit a nurse with a special interest in haematology and stem-cell transplant/apheresis. The haematology CNS team are committed to providing specialised, excellent care and treatment and wish to continue in our drive to further improve the service to our patients. As a specialist nurse within haematology you will develop your role within a variety of clinical settings, including the acute in-patient ward, out-patient department and the Headland Unit which is a specialised day-case unit.

The Haematology team are a dynamic, forward-thinking team, consisting of seven consultants, a specialist registrar and a haemostasis CNS team, all providing care across the inpatient and outpatient setting.

As a specialist nurse you will need to possess excellent communication skills, have an understanding of chronic and malignant haematological conditions and show the desire to further enhance their knowledge and skills within this specialised area
