As a Supervisory Environmental Engineer GS-819-15, you will:

• Conceive, plan, organize, direct, and control, professional and technical engineering services and long-range programs and projects required to identify, evaluate, and control environmental hazards at the NIH due to physical, chemical, and biological materials.
• Evaluate, manage, and control general solid waste, hazardous wastes, medical/ pathological wastes (MPW), and mixed low level radioactive wastes generated at NIH.
• Conduct surveillance and analytical procedures to characterize potential environmental impact and develop necessary specialized equipment, technical systems and programs, and service contracts to comply with Federal, State, and local environmental, hazardous, and solid waste laws and regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
• Serve as the primary manager for the NIH NEPA compliance program, performing assessments and making recommendations on Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and the final records of decision.
• Provide leadership and expert advice and consultation on environmental protection and enhancement issues to the Director, ORF and to NIH senior management and policy committees.
• Oversee and direct contract operations and coordinate the contract efforts within the DEP. Meet personally with professional staff of major contractors, visits contract facilities, reviews progress, and provides guidance to the DEP staff as part of the staff review on the technical efficiency and operational effectiveness of contract activities.
• Represent the DEP, ORF, and NIH in meetings and conferences with senior officials and representatives of other Federal agencies and private sector organizations as necessary, in order to plan, manage, coordinate, and oversee the programs and functions of the DEP.

• Serves as the Division senior executive responsible to the ORI Director, OPHS/OS, and higher federal authorities for the direction, oversight, maintenance, and development of the DIO mission and activities.
• Promotes the ORI education and integrity mission to leaders, executives, scientists, researchers in diverse fields, senior staff members, and PHS awardees in other federal agencies, state and local agencies, institutions of higher learning, and private sector institutions both nationally and internationally.
• Directs and oversees DIO activities for the development of diverse educational programs, resources and collaborations with other federal agencies, with state and local agencies, with institutions of higher learning, and with other public or private sector agencies both nationally and internationally.
• Directs and oversees all aspects of the administration and management of the Division and is responsible to ORI leadership and higher authority for the same.

• Provide comprehensive nursing care and treatment to a variety of patients, from newborn to geriatric, arriving with conditions ranging from minor to emergent.

• Serves as a Select Agent Program Manager, ensuring the Select Agent Program is compliant with all Department of Defense (DoD), Army, Federal, State, and activity regulations
• for the acquisition, storage, use, transfer and destruction of all Biological Select Agents and Toxins (BSAT).
• Assists Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP)-registered Principal Investigators (PIs) and technical staff with all BSAT inventory and accountability matters.
• Plays a key role in recording Select Agent Program and BSAT-related activity utilizing data management systems.
• Drafts, reviews, and submits documentation related to BSAT including reports, training, standard operating procedures, permit applications, memorandums, and taskers.
• Prepares and submits FSAP registration packets in consultation with PIs, subject matter experts, and the Responsible Official (RO).
• Prepares for and assists with for all inspections involving BSAT, including from DoD, Army, and Federal regulatory agencies.
• Conducts audits of BSAT material inventories at biosafety levels BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4.

Major Duties Include:

• Assists the C&P Manager and Analyst in drafting local credentialing processes and Medical staff bylaws in compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Provides guidance and instruction to hospital staff in completing the required documentation of establishing privileges and is the technical advisor to clinical leadership for the development of department specific privileges and assures that complete documentation is available to support privileges granted to providers within their training and or experience.
• Holds credit card and is responsible for maintaining records reconciling monthly charge statements and verifying legitimacy of requests.
• Reviews quality assessment findings, risk management evaluations and malpractice claim actions to ensure appropriate coordination with the credentials and privileging functions of the credentialing committee of the medical staff regarding individual provider clinical privileges.
• Provides quality control checks on data.
• Conducts audits of provider time-limited credentials , such as licenses and provider certifications and ensures that detailed information is documented on provider exit review forms , privileging documents , FPPE, and OPPE tracking system credentialing program training requirements, telehealth providers monitoring system committee recommended actions.

• Utilize complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance abuse evaluations of eligible patients referred for consultation.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Conducts comprehensive nutrition assessments using the Nutritional Care Process (NCP), including nutrition focused physical examinations, to establish a nutrition diagnosis and determine risk and/or degree of malnutrition.

Develops and implements Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to address the nutrition diagnosis, evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of MNT interventions. Modifies the plan as needed to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Calculates nutrient requirements and necessary diet restrictions or food and drug interactions tailoring the diet prescription to each individual patient.

Documents MNT in the medical record using the Assessment, Diagnosis, Intervention, Monitoring, Evaluation (ADIME) format.

Functions independently and accurately when record keeping.

Identifies patients in need of nutritional support and recommends the appropriate mode of support and communicates appropriately with the health care team.

Actively participates in formal and informal interdisciplinary team meetings.

Assesses educational needs and provides nutrition education/counseling for individuals and groups that is tailored to the Veteran(s).

Utilizes virtual care technology to improve access to care.
