This is an exciting opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team in the Sight and Sound Directorate. Sight and Sound is one of the most diverse directorates, with a wide range of clinical and support services. It includes Audiology, Cochlear Implant, Cleft, Craniofacial, Dental, ENT, Maxillofacial, Plastic surgery, Ophthalmology, and Urology services as well as many of the services central to the running of the hospital as a whole, such as Digital records, the Central Booking office and Medical illustration as well as Outpatients. The majority of the nursing team sit within Outpatients, Panther ENT, Panther Urology, Urodynamics and Dental, as well as a mix of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists sitting within specialist teams. As Associate Chief Nurse - Operations and Patient Experience (Sight and Sound), you will lead the nursing team across the relevant areas within the Directorate. You will support with patient experience for those teams without nursing posts and be an integral member of the Directorate Management Team. You will provide professional and clinical nursing leadership, advice and development, and contribute to Trust-wide and national projects. As part of the Management Team, the Head of Nursing will work collaboratively with the General Manager and Chief of Service to assure the Executive Team and Trust Board that robust systems of governance and performance management are in place to deliver high quality child and family centred care and services. You will also provide strong, effective visible leadership and be a positive role model. You will be part of a successful senior nursing team, supporting the delivery of excellent nursing care across the hospital. 1. To provide medical input to unit. During working hours the specialty doctor has responsibility for initial clinical assessment and decision making in relation to section 136 and 135 assessments. 2. This will include assessment and examination and where necessary appropriate investigations for all clients. Patients suffering from significant medical illness are transferred to an acute Hospital, often Kings College Hospital, also at Denmark Hill. 3. The doctor would assess under the Mental Health Act for admission either alone or as part of a full Mental Health Act assessment. 4. The doctor is responsible for record keeping including documentation of assessment and communication/ liaison with other agencies including primary care. 5. The doctor will support the wider staff team at the CPOS. There will be opportunities to contribute to clinical governance, and formal and informal teaching. 6. The doctor would be expected to be available to work 10 clinical sessions on the unit. The doctor will be able to take regular time for professional development as agreed with the team Consultant Psychiatrist. 7. There will be job planning review within 3 months of appointment involving the team Consultant Psychiatrist and the team leader of the unit. 8. The doctor would receive clinical supervision from the CPOS Consultant Psychiatrist each week.

To impart principles and establish the use of language enrichment techniques by parents/carers and fellow practitioners To support children with identified special educational needs within mainstream and special schools. To work closely with school staff to embed inclusive speech, language and communication practice within the classroom. Clinical Care The post holder will: Put the patient at the centre of everything they do. Assess and plan the delivery of patient care and take responsibility for implementing and evaluating that care, using an appropriate nursing model Caring for level 2 and level 3. Will be expected to undertake the introduction to Critical care work base module which if successful will gain 30 credits at level 6 (degree level) level 7 ( MSc level). Report all complaints immediately to the shift co-ordinator and Lead of Critical Care in the first instance. In cases where investigation is required, verbal or written statements and any other evidence, such as copies of documentation, must be provided promptly and professionally. Team Working and Communication The post holder will: Communicate daily with patients, relatives and carers to ensure that they are informed of nursing goals and medical objectives and are involved in decision-making. This requires a high level of interpersonal skill. The post holder will arrange for patients, relatives and carers to see senior nursing or medical staff, as required. Provide support for relatives and patients in a sensitive and respectful manner. Exhibit a thorough awareness of the patient activity in the entire unit regardless of the patient allocation system employed on a shift basis.
