Responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 ensuring that the station is in compliance with Federal, State and local environmental regulations. The station consists of approximately 180 acres of mixed use: medical administration, rehabilitation residential and facility maintenance activities which include but are not limited to: well-water pumping, treating, and distribution; industrial waste water discharge to the county; storm water management; air discharges requiring permits; boiler operations; electrical power generators for backup power and associated permits; new construction and renovations; hazardous waste generation; medical/infectious waste; regulated waste; and universal waste.Major Duties Include but are not Limited to:

• Advising station and/or tenant activities and contractors on the interpretation, implementation of and compliance with Federal, State, local regulations and VA/VHA direction.
• Providing guidance on environmental compliance and in developing, coordinating and executing solid waste, hazardous material, industrial wastewater and water quality programs.

• Oversees and directs corrections of deficiencies for assigned programs which involve a wide range of environmental laws and regulations such as the Clean Water Act, Toxic Substance and Control Act, Environmental Planning and Community Right to know Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Storm Water Management, Underground Storage Tanks, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, Soil Erosion and Control Clean Air Act and the Resources Conservation and Recovery Act.
• Recommending to supervisor the most feasible corrective actions for environmental deficiencies such as maintaining compliance for industrial wastewater discharge by developing and/or implementing procedures for toxic reduction/pollution prevention and process modifications without interference production.
• Developing, coordinating and executing several environmental programs to include storage tanks, asbestos disposal, hazardous material, solid waste infectious waste, industrial waste and ground and surface water.
• Overseeing the development, coordination and implementation of the installation's Hazardous Material Management System.
• Managing all required permits and plans such as National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permits, Air Permits, Industrial Waste Water Permits, Spill Presentation Control and Countermeasures Plan.

• Represent the VALOR program and other VA senior leaders on logistic supply chain modernization related matters to Defense Health Agency (DHA) and external stakeholders to include task forces and committees.

• Provides for the overall administrative management of the Mental Health Service.

The Associate Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Quality and Patient Safety (Associate DUSH for QPS) is a direct report to the Deputy Under Secretary for Health (DUSH) and supports the overall work of the Office of the Under Secretary for Health (USH). The Associate DUSH for QPS provides national leadership in the formulation and establishment of effective health care policies, programs, and initiatives that fulfill the VHA's mission to provide personalized, pro-active, high quality, safe, reliable care for Veterans. The Associate DUSH for QPS is responsible for leading VHA on its journey toward becoming a high reliability organization and has oversight of VHA's performance measurement, quality and process improvement, safety, clinical risk management, systems redesign, accreditation, and data analytics and reporting programs. The office manages approximately 400 clinical and administrative professionals in the day-to-day operations of these key programmatic elements. The Associate DUSH for QPS serves in a direct consultative capacity to the Under Secretary for Health, serving as a national subject matter expert in the quality improvement and patient safety QPS directorate. The Associate DUSH for QPS works collaboratively with other Assistant Under Secretaries leading the strategic direction of the Veterans Health Administration.

• Serves as a Health Insurance Specialist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of federal policies, guidance, and oversight initiatives regarding program integrity in Medicaid managed care.

HSR seeks individuals to lead the development, refinement, and implementation of VA health systems research portfolios with a particular focus in the following domains:

1. Health informatics/Data Science encompasses big data, virtual/telehealth, and connected care including cutting edge research on advanced methods to extract information from medical records and other data sources; development of predictive analytics to improve clinical care and health system management; computerized decision support to improve clinical decision-making and reduce medical errors; use of technology including smart phone apps to collect and disseminate information to patients, development and testing of innovations in the design and use of health information and virtual health care modalities to improve access to and outcomes of health care for patients.
2. 3.
