Evaluates nutritional assessments, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic and treatment data, and develops, implements, and monitors the nutrition care plan through the physician. 3. Calculates nutritional requirements (calories, protein, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, electrolytes, fluid) and necessary diet restrictions or food/drug interactions. Diet prescribed is tailored to each individual client according to physical and metabolic needs. Clinical Duties:

1. Oversight: Clinically supervises the training of Nephrology fellows, residents, and medical students to provide quality patient-centered patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings. Ensures resident documentation, with required documented of supervision of all care by the attending physician, is completed in a timely manner per facility bylaws.
2. Examinations: Evaluates patients by examining thoroughly. Appropriate clinical, laboratory, and other pertinent data is obtained to determine care the patient is provided. Assess needs for renal replacement therapies.
3. Diagnosis: Ability to interpret and evaluate clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status. Able to manage patients with kidney diseases, including but not limited to Chronic Kidney Disease, electrolyte disorders, glomerulonephritis (both primary and secondary), resistant hypertension, recurrent nephrolithiasis, and renal transplantation.
4. Therapeutic ability: Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assess changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies the plan of treatment when indicated. Be proficient in various dialysis modalities, including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Duties include but not limited to:

Performing the following tasks during the clinic visit:- Reviews information from outside providers- Conducts history and physical exam- Assesses patient's clinical condition- Formulates treatment plans- Completes provider-specific clinical reminders- Reviews test and procedure results- Completes patient referrals in CPRS- Manages patient's medication (including medicine reconciliation)- Gives medical and lifestyle advice and counseling

Performing the following direct patient care responsibilities when patient is not present:- Completes view alerts- Follows-up on patient-related information (test and procedure results, consults and medications)- Calls patients and family on the telephone- Sends and receives secure messages from patients- Discusses cases with consultants and with PACT team- Reviews and acts on non-VA medical records- Completes forms/paperwork- The provider participates in all PACT team meetings and other team activities- Collaborates with NP and PA providers and directs care for the panel.


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Will take after hours critical lab call on a rotating basis (approx. 4 weeks yearly))

Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Analyzes financial data and prepares reports for management with recommendations and explanations of trends, outliers, etc.;
• Monitors short- and long-range program expenditure goals and actions;
• Provides budgetary assistance and advice on the application of budget guidelines to program officials;
• Prepares, reviews, and presents a variety of reports related to status of funds, workload and expenditures;
• Determines the method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims;
• Receives invoices for payment of services and processes them through an electronic system;
• Reviews pending items and ensures follow-up action is taken;
• Researches and resolves complex issues within budget spreadsheets;
• Reviews and certifies invoices that are received after having validated that goods or services have been received;
• Provides administrative support and prepares written correspondence regarding benefits;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Oversees and facilitates the administrative management for Nutrition & Food Service.
• Independently develops, plans, issues and implements procedures to comply with directives concerning administrative matters.
• Analyzes and evaluates problems, makes recommendations, and devises solutions to systems administration, training management, publication management and data management within the division.
• Participates in regular meetings with leadership and other senior members to address administrative management issues, resolve problems and provide recommendations for correcting or improving processes and programs.
• Compiles information prepares administrative reports for management briefing and sharing with work groups.
• Serves as the department Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC).
• Manages, monitors, coordinates and provides regulatory guidance on all personnel actions, organizational structures and position management for the Service.
• Reviews, interprets and provides recommendations for the revision of regulatory guidelines, policies and standing operating procedures pertinent to personnel administration and all Service operations.
• Participates in the planning for budgeting needs and financial management for Nutrition & Food Service.
• Attends budget calls, reviewing guidelines and instructions in order to brief managers of schedules and data requirements.
• Coordinate with Assistant Chief, N&FS/Food Production Manager to control purchasing and use of supplies.
• Reviews office needs in order to plan and develop budget data and justification for review and approval.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
