Job Role:
• To provide clinical and administrative support to the Dental Officer to enable maintenance of the surgery. This includes preparation/sterilisation of all instruments before and after patients, reception duties, document handling, operation of dental computing system, processing radiographs, shared maintenance tasks and working in the central sterilisation area when in place.
• To be fully aware of the responsibilities of a registered healthcare professional and comply with the GDC Principles and Standards for Dental Professionals.

More detail about the role Our role can be challenging and is time sensitive in order to support patient flow through the acute hospital; but it is also rewarding and varied. You will have the opportunity to work in many different departments and wards throughout the acute site, liaising with many different teams and other specialists in order to facilitate the appropriate discharge requirements for the patients that are referred to us. We also follow patients into the community to provide acute hospital at home care. We work closely with our community colleagues and have established ourselves as a link between acute and community care in order to provide seamless transition of care between hospital and home or other receiving destination. We are currently a part of developing a Frailty pathway and are involved in many initiatives around length of stay and discharge planning and frequently receive excellent feedback from our patients as well as our professional colleagues. We require a forward thinking, dynamic, motivated and creative individual to join us. Being able to work as part of a team and under pressure are essential skills that the successful candidate will hold. Experience from both acute and community backgrounds would be preferred, but is not essential. Experience and understanding of the Continuing Healthcare Framework, Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding would also be an advantage, but training can be provided with regards to these. Training and support will be given to the successful applicant, including a robust induction period tailored to your needs. More detail about the role We are a busy 24 bedded emergency surgical assessment unit caring for emergency admissions in the specialities of colorectal, urology and gynaecology including early pregnancy complications. Within the ward we have a separate ambulatory assessment unit, taking admissions from the emergency department and GP referrals and a surgical emergency outpatient clinic and our staff work within all of these areas. KGV is a great ward for learning and developing your skills and competence and have an experienced and supportive team who are passionate about the care that we deliver. To work in collaboration with the Ocean View multi-disciplinary team, to develop robust discharge plans with and for service users. This will involve working with service users from admission to the ward, through their in-patient stay, and post-discharge in the community. The post holder will apply the core principles of recovery in discharge planning and preparation, supporting the multi-disciplinary team to help service users to develop and practice essential skills for independent living. The post holder will support the initial assessment and discharge action planning for service users admitted to the ward, and provide follow through support once they have been discharged.
