Summary:
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is America's first cancer center founded in 1898 by Dr. Roswell Park. His revolutionary model of a “multidisciplinary approach” to cancer – with scientists and clinicians working in concert and collaboratively has become the standard by which all modern- day comprehensive cancer centers are measured.
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center was among the first centers to receive National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation in 1974 and is the only upstate New York facility to hold the NCI designation of "comprehensive cancer center". Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center was a founding member of the prestigious National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Many Roswell Park faculty serve on the NCCN panels that developed the Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ – the internationally recognized standards for clinical policy in oncology, and the most comprehensive, most frequently updated clinical practice guidelines available in any area of medicine.
Over its long history, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has made fundamental contributions to reducing the cancer burden and has successfully maintained an exemplary leadership role in setting the national standards for cancer care, research and education.
The opportunity:
The Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) and Senior Executive Director serves as an integral member of the executive leadership team who strategically plans, organizes and directs the full range of clinical, administrative and distributive pharmaceutical services to all locations operated or contracted to the organization.
Further, the CPO provides leadership for all pharmacy programs including patient care services (inpatient and outpatient drug distribution, drug information, clinical consultative services), research, academic training and business affairs of the Department of Pharmacy. In addition, the CPO provides leadership and establishes productive relationships with Senior Leadership, medical staff, and department heads to optimize all aspects of medication management and formulary management across the enterprise.
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the pharmaceutical care at the organization is safe and consistent with existing regulations of The Joint Commission, New York State codes, rules and regulations for hospitals, existing Federal Law and current findings for acceptable pharmacy practices.

Required Education and Experience
License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New York or eligible through reciprocity.
Education and Experience
1) Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree and six (6) years of leadership experience as a Director of Pharmacy, Associate Director of Pharmacy or Assistant Director of Pharmacy in a large community or university teaching hospital or healthcare system; or
2) Master's degree in Business Administration or HealthCare Administration and six (6) years of leadership experience as a Director of Pharmacy, Associate Director of Pharmacy or Assistant Director of Pharmacy in a large community or university teaching hospital or healthcare system
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
