The Senior Occupational Therapist will assist to develop a Trusted Assessor Framework across South West London (SWL), and contribute to implementation of the use of the framework and support to trusted assessors. To collaborate with accredited or in house trusted assessor training providers and universities (Roehampton, Kingston and LSBU) to promote and enable Trusted Assessor training to meet the needs of the SWL Occupational Therapy workforce. To guide, support and mentor Trusted Assessors to maintain and develop their skills through regular forums and direct support. To support the manager to develop and embed a culture of learning and improvement through supervision, mentoring, sharing of best practice knowledge, research and the competent application of legislative frameworks. The focus will be on support to trusted assessors, whether they have the title of Occupational Therapy assistants, assessment officers, Occupational Therapy technicians or newly qualified Occupational Therapists, who have done the trusted assessor training in the last 2 years. Trusted Assessors are key to supporting the provision of services across Health and Social Care. They may have different job titles across the various organisations, they include staff who are not registered with HCPC and are supervised by occupational therapists. A Trusted Assessor can provide a timely response to referrals received and can keep an individual safe and independent at home, prevent or delay hospital and care home admission. Following trusted assessor training, they are able to prescribe low level equipment to individuals, and the people caring for them, to maintain a safe environment. Thus enabling occupational therapists to focus on more complex work where their skills and time are required.
